Any thoughts on the financial crimes/fraud org and how it's being built? Isn't there new leadership?

It’s being built awfully. They’re not close to being done with hiring and no one has real work just paperwork.
Because of the lack of hiring, can confirm that shortcuts are taken and interview rounds go from 3 to 1.
Excellent point!
No wonder there are so many clueless leaders without any business knowledge in USAA.

Knowledge does not equal good leadership and strategy
What do you think of the current fraud leadership? Had a few meetings with some of the AVPs and they seemed very knowledgeable, but disappointed how behind the tech stack was and HR is fighting against hiring people as remote. So far if you’re external or already remote, you’ll be remote. But the quality of the hires is….
Most of the Fraud leadership is brand new and they’re brining all their friends. I feel so sorry for them as many of them have left their long term employers for this h*ll hole. I’ve been asked to refer friends here and I just can’t do it.
Ive been trying to get out for about 2 years, hopefully something will come soon 🔜
It sounds like they are paying you to learn right now. Take advantage and get ahead of the curve. Read up on anything you can find involving regulatory compliance and risk management. The learning center has a ton of stuff and also links to LinkedIn Learning. People who take the lead will be successful. Check out these site for starters.

Dumpster fire for sure. Bad reputation also
In the org now and we have no work. They said to wait it out and spend time learning, then never respond on what to learn.
So asking y’all, what would you recommend to learn before getting out?
With about 90 million dollar 2025 budget, get the most out of the org and GTFO.
I plan on going over to the area sooner than later. Sure beats what I’m doing right now and it’ll give me time to figure out a good exit strategy.
It’s always been a hot mess. Back in the day, I remember them changing fraud numbers to tell whatever story they wanted to. Hope that’s changed, but wouldn’t be surprised if it hasn’t.

They hired failed "leaders" from 2 of the worst FIs in banking
If they hired leadership from Citi then nothing will get done. Citi has an awful do-nothing-fast lazy corporate culture
It’s a dumpster fire. But if you want to get in somewhere or off the phones, go for it. Be prepared to make your next move in a couple of years though. By then you’ll either be laid off or they’ll actually figure out what they’re doing and then you’ll have to actually work. The joys of working for a big bank!
ARC?
I have been trying to get into the fraud area for ages. No interviews or anything. Oh well.
History is about to repeat itself. This was the same problem that AML faced a couple of years ago where they had to fill a lot of vacancies fast . Everyone was promised remote work. Fast forward 2 years - hundreds of ppl were laid off and then ordered to RTO.
Greater scrutiny with the Bank Layoffs. Needed to in order to hire 1,000 Fraud folks. Seats aren’t being filled as fast as they should, so hiring processes are a joke - they’re hiring for technical roles without technical assessments and the person they like the most gets the job. Who knows if they can do the job.
Fraud can’t work on ARC without filled seats. It takes months to hire 500 people, but have 60-90 days, so be EOY. They hired 500 before, the new 500 are mainly technical. Promising everyone remote roles in Fraud, harder to do with RTO. Likely safe area from layoffs, but be prepared since with the Bank layoffs, the work will be slamming everyone in 60-90 days. Likely not a decent training time
They fired the former fraud leadership and hired brand new leaders from Citi and BoA to fix it. They’re trying to overhaul everything since the tech stack is woefully behind industry.
They’re hiring people too fast - there are people getting hired without the normal interview rounds since they’re getting pressure to finish hiring and get to work faster.
Good opportunity to move there to gain experience, then jump in 2 years when ARC is over
Usaa doesn’t have a clue
Hmm, never heardnof such a thing….
