I’m a long-time VMW veteran who spent ~6 months w BC before I decided to leave…
First, you need to base this decision on what’s most important to you: Money, or quality of life/career fulfillment. Only you can make that determination. The answer is different for everyone.
Second, there are no “safe companies”. None. Get that idea out of your head. However, there are certainly many companies with a healthier culture than BC. In my high-tech career I’ve worked for many companies, big and small, and I’ve never once worked for a company with such a dysfunctional, barren, soulless culture as BC. Hard to imagine you could go anywhere, and find worse. But that's just one person's (informed) opinion.
Third, if your new role is in Big Tech, you’re going to find most first-tier companies pay in the same ballpark when it comes to cash compensation. BC stands out because they pile on stock since, let’s face it, BC needs over-the-top incentives to attract and retain people.
(Aside: I'm currently working as a contractor, and with overtime I am bringing home more now than I would have earned if I stayed at BC and cashed in my RSUs.)
Lastly, and this is particularly relevant if you are in the early- to mid-stages of your career: How long are you willing to stay at a company that does not prioritize or invest in employee development, or provide broad opportunities for advancement? Collect those RSUs and build your bank account, but let your professional development stagnate? Think hard about the trade-off, only you can make that decision for yourself.
