Thread regarding FactSet Research Systems Inc. layoffs

It is not what you know at FactSet but who you know

The old school FactSet guards are the issue here. They are all stuck in the 80’s and have no desire to look at any new ideas or changes - they know best. You have to either agree with them or be punished via comp bc their buddies will get the higher raise and bonus. They just want the easy road to collect their cash. CEO has surrounded himself with yes ppl. There was hope with the former CFO but magically she disappeared. CHRO is a joke and will just exit in a year when she gets her cash. The good people will leave since most have skills other companies will appreciate and pay for. They are not an equal opportunity employer. The comp ranges vary drastically within departments and the lower having much larger workloads - again comes back to old guard. If someone doesn’t wake up, they will lose great talent.

Forget about HR? Aren’t they responsible for maintaining the talent pool and look at the benefit of the organisation? Their lack of ability to understand the business yet make lives difficult for managers is mind boggling. If there is anyone responsible for the toxic environment, group think and mediocrity that FDS encourages, it is HR. Senior leaders in that department like CH, including those for L&D and TA are irresponsible to say the least. Cruising along on the efforts of other groups taking the weight of the work they should be doing. Where is HR and DEI actually taking a stand for the benefit of the organisation? One thing to have multiple BRGs. Quite another to build a culture of safety and accountability which HR itself has failed at by being power hungry and corrupt.

Same people but different titles and fancy names. All of them disaster. IBS is freaking a mess so as every single one of them. DMW is same mess & place for all chief of staff and long term old FDS crew. DSO is bunch of clueless people who can’t deliver. CPO .org blew up & only good one is engineering with a decent CTO.

Forget about HR. Root cause of all RCS and CFO/CRO.

None happened until she steps into .org

Working with IBS will ensure one of the following if not all:

  1. The IBS person you are dealing with has IBS - no other rational way to describe their rotten behaviour.
  2. As a consequence of dealing with them - you will get IBS.
  3. People around you, including clients will get IBS from lack of cohesion in the messaging they get.
  4. IBS & RCS with their lack of synergy and political rivalry will ensure shareholders get IBS.

God bless us all!

If you have to ask what the acronyms mean, then you probably shouldn’t know what they mean… all I can say is that the shareholders deserve better than the current management team (L1/L2). I hope they start to realize this.

The IBS group and lack of their collaboration is well known, even to their leadership who are pompous. The IBS group has such a high superiority complex, it is amazing how obstinate most of them are. Rude, entitled experts who believe that FactSet exists because of them. I’d put this on Snow given he has failed to get IBS leadership to fall in line.

Weird how all departments gets their share of attacks except IBS and the boys club that manages it this group. Speaks to their untouchable status. 6 years and no product delivered, the good ones get removed from sale, yet no accountability. And of course no collaboration…

Salespeople cannot demo workstations because their leadership cannot demo workstations. How well did the ex CRO know the product? Or for that matter some of her directs who have been in their roles for donkey years.

More will come but this round has to be sales and not product and engineering. Top line is hurting because of them and not products and engineering. Products have to attend meetings because sales people cannot even demo workstations.

It is not just the old school crew but the new ones. Most are gone except Helen who took most of them out including the latest CFO before she took over her job. She took head of CTS, CTO, two of the CROs, CHRO and CFO.

Remember one thing - all of the layoffs and reorgs happened because of Helen for last 6years. Can’t believe she last this long. All other jobs she got cut after 1year

What a perfect example of short sighted ruthlessness. A matter of time till the tide turns and FDS bends over with randomly crafted awards to retain people. If you don’t learn the lesson the first time, only a matter of time till it’s repeated.
