Was laid off December last year and just now got an email from a 3rd party for cvs, Thomas and co., restating my separation date, and including a pdf with some RI unemployment info. I guess cvs forgot that state requirement last year? Weird tho to get it now, surely they must have been required to send that within x days of separation. Wonder how they caught that, and if it means anything for current employees, like did this requirement come up while preparing for new coming layoffs?

Actually the below poster is wrong, it goes by your job grade and years of service. For instance If you have 22 years seniority at a GL 110, you get 26 weeks. Yes, you have to pick up cobra however, it is supplemented by CVS for the duration of your severance. So during severance you pay employee rates.
Severance has been lowered to one week for every working year. It used to be 2 weeks but when CVS took over they lowered it to one week. You are benefits will carry through to the end of the month you were laid off and then you have to pick up your own insurance or get cobra which is about 10 times what you normally pay
I was laid off last June on the “quiet layoff” round and also received a package in December outlining severance, outplacement, etc. Strange, because I received that information when I was notified in June that my position was being eliminated.
Do you mind me asking how much severance you were offered and if you were eligible for unemployment when you were let go last year?
