Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

Streaming and tech will be most affected on 24th?

Any other areas?

@8zel+1uqkJwgm I’ve been doing the bare minimum since the layoffs in August! If they are going to do rolling layoffs then fu-k them. They don’t value me, so they get nothing from me.

Can we all just agree to do nothing until 9/24

Sadly though, I have a feeling I’m not one of the lucky ones that get the pink slip 😢 my plan B is to get a part time if I’m not laid off. Can’t stand this place and chances are it will get worse after layoffs are done. I already have other gigs and don’t need that much to maintain the level of income I need to meet my financial obligations.

@4yhn+1uqkJwgm Thank you. I;m not sure what the definition of "department head" is in this context (like I don't know how high the chain of command I should go), but the hierarchy goes like this according to the org chart, top to bottom/left to right:

BB -> TR -> VH - HW

Any hints on streaming + marketing - all divisions that report up to DD?

Any intel on divisions under P.W.? (formerly know as MTS...noc/cc, on-air operations and that side of streaming and tech?)

@4yhn+1uqkJwgm What are talking about training for layoffs? I’m a VP and I’ve been here over six years and there is no such thing as layoff training. And yes, I’ve had to lay off people a few times while here. It’s usually an email or zoom two days before with details of who to speak to and that HR will be on the call. This time HR is unlike to be on the call and will speak to leavers later in the day.

“Directors/VPs and up should have just finished their trainings for the layoffs.“

Let’s say I am a VP who has not gotten any training. Assume I am cut?

“But there are managers telling their teams things will be OK. What gives?“

There’s a very short list of teams not being impacted (VERY short list).

Directors/VPs and up should have just finished their trainings for the layoffs.

If you give the initials of your department head I can subtly hint one way or the other. But like I said, most streaming / tech teams (and their ICs) are severely impacted

"Engineers and ICs on the streaming/any tech side should be looking. Literally all of them should be looking if they haven't started yet. 8 business days away"

But there are managers telling their teams things will be OK. What gives?

Yes because they were the reason for the 2 waves because they were given more time.

Yes, the general consensus is streaming and tech will be affected. CBS News will be hit hard after the election. MTVE won't be affected, maybe a symbolic person let go here or there. Check out the thread on cancel McCarthy to learn more as to why.

How do you know that MTVE won’t be affected? Still really nervous here…
