Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

What’s up with the work environment?

So, is Oracle competing for the worst work environment title? Are we in the running for the worst managers or the cr-ppiest culture? Something’s definitely gone wrong in the past several years, turning work into a nightmare. Can someone explain why? I’m genuinely curious.

I assure you, there are many highly qualified and talented individuals at Oracle. However, I acknowledge that it can be incredibly challenging for them to thrive. Often, when the opportunity for a paid redundancy arises, they take the money and leave.

I recall a conversation I had with a VP about a position I was interested in. Instead of asking why I believed I would excel in the role, she laughed and remarked that she too had once wanted to be a top model but lacked the height and measurements. This was particularly surprising given her public speeches and involvement in Women Leadership initiatives. She might have been right about my fit for the role, but she should have asked questions to understand my strengths and weaknesses, and offered advice on how to bridge any gaps before dismissing me.

Plain and simple. If you have zero skills, zero morals, zero work ethic, are sloppy, zero technical acumen, will snake people and try to hamstring them....you have the qualities to be Oracle Mgmt. Amongst the worst, if not the worst, in all of tech. Heck. They're worst amongst mgmt in all industries. Pure trash. Most stay cause at the other tech companies they wouldn't even be above the interns. Truth.

I'd love to know too. I can't believe I actually used to LIKE it there. Over the last 4 years its gone increasingly, vastly, STEEPLY downhill.

man...this is so on point...my old mgmt at oracle would get throttled at a startup. they were useless at oracle so imagine them elsewhere. the comment about most stay cause cant get cr-p on open market....100% true....none of my old group would even get offers they give to college grads.

oracle's secret is anyone with kids tends to stay despite the horrible pay raises due to good benefits and its fairly reasonable to navigate the horror-show by having work-friends and its pretty easy to tell where the investment is going.
its possible to hide out long term and the longer you hide out the less one wants to go on the open market.
unless you get get on a hot team stay only for 2-3 years, maximum to your cliff year, or you may never leave.
most of these pathetic people who make life miserable at oracle couldnt do anything useful at a startup but somehow feel important because playing game of thrones allows these people to give vacuous speeches and play politics and act important but the reality is at oracle, unless you actively get laid off, you would have to self service terminate yourself because your manager probably doesnt want to deal with the mess or doesnt know.
recommendation: if you work there, get a second job and never quit. they might not notice for some time. make excuses and try to kick the can if a pip comes up.

don't be ridiculous, nothing beats Amazon and non-name sweatshops.

This is nothing new with Oracle, they simply don’t care. Why?
Because really smart people stay there despite the cr-ppy conditions. Once they actually start losing people and the bottom line gets affected then maybe something will change but for right now many still stay and the company hasn’t felt any financial pain and that is the only pain they will react to.
