Thread regarding Follett layoffs

You all need....

To unionize. Stop letting the Ivory Tower people who have stepped foot in an actual store maybe once dictate what you need in the store (labor, equipment, etc.) They're keeping you drastically understaffed so you don't have time to think about this option. Some of the stories I have heard are inhumane on the level of Amazon.

Demand better.

Questions I ask myself. Would unionization close those unprofitable stores where ‘back in five’ signs hang when you use the bathroom? A contract would protect the ‘job class,’ and require the company to deduct union dues of ~ 5% for every position in the class, member or not. I’m an advocate of unionization, but also a retail realist. In many ways Follett has become the campus convenience store. Is there enough opportunity left in the company’s future to fight to make it fair?

JRC LLC bought FHEG for it's ROI.

For anyone working there, not a career. Just another cr-ppy job.

And that's on top of all those let go or demoted in 2023

In April 2024, approximately 60 Follett salaried managers were let go due to market sales failures.

Ripe for unionization.
