I was one of the employees let go on 9/9/2024. I trained my replacement who is supposed to be there for only 14 months.
They did give us a severance package with alot of stipulations so was forced to obtain a lawyer.
That's the thanks for 23 Yeats.
And then come to find out Beacon sold out to QXO this year.
What a shame how Beacon treated so many employees.

Mine actually took place on the last day of the month in May. I was with the company 14 years and one year away from maxing out my benefits. I was an outside sales rep and had just completed my debrief with my sales manager earlier in the week. That meeting went very well by the way. 2 days later on a Thursday at 5:45 in the evening my Sales Manager was notified he had to call me in on Friday (the last day of the month mind you) and lay me off. Came down from the President of the entire region and no pleading from the sales manager would change anything. The best part was the slap in the face that my Health insurance ended that very same day since it was months end.

That was the thanks I got for 13 years of dedication to Beacon. But hey they gave you a severance. With that though came a nice signature and reminder of a non compete clause that was signed prior to me taking an outside sales role with the company. So not only did they sc--w me, but want to try to limit my ability to find a new job after they cut mine. Good thing I live in a right to work state and they can stick their non compete clause right up their a$$. It wont stick in my state.

I was told my position was eliminated. This was 3 weeks before my 15 year work anniversary when I would have been eligible for an additional benefits. My higher salary and benefits package was likely viewed as a liability . In order to receive my severance package I had to agree not to file an age discrimination suit (I’m 64 years old). Beacon does not care about people only numbers

They gave a severence package to the terminated employees and explained the position they were in. I believe that businesses need to be efficient as the world changes and employees should be able to see the writing on the wall as changes ocurr within their industry. The layoffs are a result of economics which many times is a trickle down of consumer spending which is acually at the employee consumer spending level. It is basic economics. That is why there is unemployment available to those that get laid-off. It is not a fault of Beacon, only a business reaction to consumer spending and business challenges that ocurr in all businesses.

Beacon does not have your back. They react to investors. Their competitors are in a much better place with people and equipment.

There is more to it than a “reduction in force”. Why would you cut certain essential manager positions ( Assistant and Branch Managers). In typical fashion BECN is protecting their shareholders rather than creating a better culture for their workers.

Think about it…. Home Depot acquired SRS.. Is BECN making themselves look better for Lowe’s to acquire them?

I was one of the people laid off on 9/9. It’s part of a restructuring. They determined a certain management position was redundant and cut it entirely. Around 500-600 people we laid off. The official reason, “reduction in workforce”

This is true, on 9-9-2024 Beacon Building Products conducted a mass layoff. I am surprised this has not been brought up in a more formal discussion rather than the back alley of the layoff.com. It's not a private owned company and the share holders should know.

So they can undercut everyone's material price but sc--w the employees.

So they can inflate the stock price for investors but, they have your back!
