Keep in mind that a company email is not required to post here. In the past few weeks, a few trolls have waddled over here to post inflammatory content. We're not only talking random offensive replies made to incite a response, but claims of being from HR, or having hot insider information. (See: "just let go in HR ask me anything" or those early responses in "Do the Managers Already know?") (no. they don't.)
The upcoming layoffs have been, and will continue to be, chronicled in the mainstream press. This is a great spot for your local troll on the toilet to get a reaction-fix from anxiously tuned-in employees. I'm right there with you with my finger on the refresh button, but take a second to consider the salt.

Details from august ..
My boss is a director has about 15 reports was told the Thursday before of those laid off by SVP. Director was not involved in the choosing of those laid off but would be doing it on Tuesday. Met with HR on zoom to go over the script as it was called and laid off three on Tuesday via zoom -email sent for a meeting that am. Team was remote
By that point I think the employees involved knew what meeting was about
HR details came later that day.
At end of day meeting rest of told it was over for us as far as known for the year ..
related to me a few weeks after fact
“Really Guys” - please stop posting! You aren’t helping.

...isn't the whole point of this site to post. Why are we discoraging people to post about sh-t.
If you are going to post here, please post factual information…save the “soap box” and “preaching” shenanigans for another medium. Clearly there are some people here that like to hear themselves talk.
lol what is wrong with yall

I’ve been in meetings where high level position employees have openly mentioned 9/24 as the next cut. It’s not when. It’s who.
Did not expect the reactions to this post, but I suppose it’s to be expected when tensions are high.
I’ve had members of my team bring up posts they’ve seen online, panicked. They’ve asked me about things I can confirm, and about rumors that I can’t. The only thing that I’m able to say to people, as someone who knows literally nothing, is to take things with a grain of salt. As it’s been said, this is a great site for information, but it’s an open rumor forum - and contributions can come from anywhere.
If you understand that, great! This post isn’t for you. It’s not a personal call-out. There are others that struggle with digesting it all - I’ve dealt with it firsthand, repeatedly, in 1:1s. I’ve had to console people in literal tears due to their anxiety. It’s difficult. Those are the people this post is a reminder for.
To those of you defensive in the comments: I’m glad to hear this is all obvious to you. This may be surprising, but it isn’t obvious to everyone. This is a highly emotional time for everybody, and people think and react to things differently.
As a manager, I’m not only dealing with my own emotions re: my potential job loss, but those of my team members. I wish we’d been given some kind of training instead of being expected to wing it, but I guess that’s what you should expect when you’re also on the block.
You may think you know who’s getting laid off, and a list from July is waaay old. The senior leadership at Nick thought they knew too. They had lists and recommendations. Then Tuesday came and many on the list were safe and many NOT on the list were gone. SLT put together a list of 20-25%. They cut 60%. Senior leadership said… “this wasn’t my list”. They had no idea how deep the cuts went. And if you think you know, you may not realize you’re on someone’s fresher list! No amount of thinking you know or wishing you’re safe is going to matter. We’ll all get the reality check when the day comes.
@1tmb+1uxtqYIB exactly, community knows best. A community based approach is a reason sites like stackoverflow.com and many others like it continue to thrive. Or products like those under Apache, which are open source. Communities can self regulate and you can get the best of them if you use them right.
Are any criteria being used to layoff or just preference?
@OP, thanks for pointing out the obvious. Yeah, we get it, this is a rumor site, so take everything with a grain of salt. We know it’s anonymous and people can post whatever, which is actually why many of us are here.
But even with all that, you can still get useful info if you know how to sift through it. From your posts, it seems you might not have quite figured that out yet. So here’s a quick guide:
- Troll posts are usually pretty easy to spot, so don’t stress too much. The mods will get rid of them eventually.
- For those empty statements, just watch the engagement - most people can spot BS a mile off, therefore those posts get downvoted and buried fast.
I don’t think these replies are ridiculous. Your initial post was unnecessary
Nobody is denying 9/24. That is absolutely happening.
Just wanted to reiterate that Vibols org is being severely cut on the 24th
Sure there’s speculation but people don’t have a reason/incentive to make up bullsh-t
OP here. FFS. These replies are ridiculous.
Yes, there is credible information. Nobody is saying that there isnt.
There is also absolute BS being shared for giggles. It really shouldn't offend you to acknowledge and keep in mind the absolute FACT that literally anybody can write anything on this forum.
I could make a post stating layoffs will be happening based off your EOY review score, and I'd get three immediate replies asking for further details.
Take what you read with a grain of salt. That should be a basic skill in today's cultural climate, and for the internet in general.
As far as 'Mass Managorial Knowledge' of those being let go - as Management MYSELF, I continue to be skeptical of claims that uneffecfed managers ON THE WHOLE are privy to a list of who is being booted. Number of cuts to a team? Sure. Monetary benchmarks to hit? Fine.
It's taken DAYS for management level only information to be leaked by folks on this forum. If you do know who is on the way out - wow. You and any confidants have done a great job of collectively keeping quiet. It must su-k to try and authenticlly interact with those team members.
I have not heard about any layoffs happening tomorrow. That doesnt mean it wont happen tomorrow though. I know the major layoff will be next Tuesday. It’s not going to be pretty
Alot of managers/directors tried to save the people on their teams to no avail. Nothing we said mattered.
Just know that a lot of us had to carry around this burden for a while and it’s really been rough on us. I wish you all the best
Curious is tomm is accurate ? My team already works from home on Tuesdays
there has been a lot of accurate info posted here regarding dates and departments - both ahead of and while happening
A lot of the stuff said here has actually happened
Well said @lyf+1uxtqYIB. I found the above post very unprofessional and patronizing. We are all adults and more than capable of determining what is fact vs. fiction.
You are dead wrong. I am a manger and I know who is getting laid off on my team. I know quite a few other managers/directors that know as well.
And for the record, I have known since early July.
Quit grouping everyone into the same category.
