Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

TES-Finance Reorganization

Was the recent reorganization under Gemma Kubat just the first step in a plan that will eventually see more jobs move to India?

Gemma Kubat thinks everyone that was at Target before she was is incompetent and she thinks everyone in India is brilliant. She's driven the credit card business to the ground. She is ineffective, manipulative and dishonest. Don't trust her.

I am definitely concerned about my future employment. We have always started hiring for seasonal in Sept. This year there have been no new hires to train and I have noticed an increasing amount of transfers from Indian employees, as well complaints from guests regarding Indian TM behavior on the phones. No one has mentioned if there is a new global team in India or if these TM are just seasonal. What has been brought up over and over is the assurance that no one is being let go which at this point feels more like trying to keep the calm than an actual assurance.

Its not in the media because I am guessing no one wants to speak up.

It does feel like they are directionless on the store cards. Its like 10%+ of their bottom line, so outsourcing it and replacing it with the pittances that Synchrony, etc pay in bounties would be laughed at by the Board. But there needs to be leadership with financial services expertise high up—you cannot run and forecast debit and credit like you can selling Halloween-themed gingerbread houses… but it really feels like the leaders do have that approach.

I wonder what Tim Waltz thinks of all of this. So many companies in MN sending jobs to India. I don’t see anything on the media.

Writing is on the walls! It's a matter of time before TES gets rid of its credit portfolio and closure of departments. Closure of Sioux Falls and Tempe (permanent) is just the start.
Lots of small layoffs are in the process.

The strategy does seem to be to move as much work from Minnesota to TII as they can, as quietly as possible. Seems to be impacting nearly every functional area - tech, finance, merch planning, inventory, data science, marketing, etc. Anyone with a remote work arrangement will high on the list to move their work to TII. Why pay someone US wages when Prajeet will do it for $20K?

Minnesotans lost control of the company because they are completely outnumbered from top to bottom. If you dare to show slightest dissent, they will gang up on you and end your career real fast.

I wonder what Minnesotans would think if they knew Target was stealthily moving jobs from the state to India. They have always had a lot of pride in this hometown brand,

They’re going to move every job they can to India. Even though TII’s final work product is notoriously bad, it’s too cheap not to.

If you think it’s bad now, just wait until after the election. If a certain candidate wins and raises tariffs on all Chinese goods, Target is going to be pressed for cash to pay those tariffs. Mark my words, they’ll look at every US HQ job to move to TII.
