I worked in I.T. for many years and finally got out on my terms thanks to remote working picking up.
It is a badly managed company and one should only work there as a very last resort.
The stress level is very high due to the constant layoffs. If you happen to survive the layoff your work increases. The number of staff decreases while the amount of work increases.
The other issue is the fanatical love of offshore. They can do no wrong even though their work is sloppy and often has to be fixed onshore. How Highmark can get away with exposing the data to non citizens is beyond me. There are government rules about it but Highmark seems to get around them.
They say they are "reinventing healthcare". I am waiting for the day when they become the first BCBS company with no onshore workers, just management.
If you are looking for a job look somewhere else. You won't be constantly wondering when your time will come to be laid off.

The problem is that they really have no plan whatsoever. They say they do, but realignments and layoffs happen way too often. I was there over 15 years so I lived through the Matt Ray debacle and the subsequent realignments since. So, even though management thinks they know what they are doing, and the touting that they know what they are doing, the bottom line really tells the story (always does). When a company is constantly laying people off there is something truly wrong with the management.
I, too, worked in IT (Solaris/Linux Sys Admin in Open Systems) starting in 1998 working for Don Matush, then switched over to Audit Support working for Ed Metz in 2008. Then, then we separated from Highmark and became HM Health Solutions under Matt Ray, that's when things started to get ridiculous. I couldn't wait to retire (2018) and was so glad to walk out those doors for the final time. I often wonder how many of the good people are left (probably VERY VERY few). It's a shame that Pennsylvania Blue Shield was taken over by Highmark back in the late 90s; worst thing to ever happen.
Quality has greatly suffered because of their cost saving tactics. Not saving anything in the long run.
They are being far too aggressive with offshoring and it is going to bite the company in the rear very badly when the inevitable cyber attack happens over in India. It is a matter of when, not if.
