CSC - worth sticking it out?

Been in CSC for a little over a year, with promise for room for growth and advancements, but have heard nothing. Any advice? Is it worth sticking around?

I've been on the csc/service desk for over 2 years as a contractor. No one from my training class or before has been hired or promoted. I have never received a raise or bonus. I was told that someone will have to quit or get fired for a position to open up and everyone would be competing for that one position. It also looks like they are planning to send our jobs offshore soon. Good luck.

I can't agree with everything stated here. My experience is if you stay in SO you could take 20 years to get a Band 3 position, much less a Band 4+. I have grown a lot in my career with Cigna, you have to get out to other areas. SO needs call and claim reps the most, they don't want you to go, especially if you are a high performer. If you get a job offer from the right manager, they can't keep you forever. They have to agree on a time frame for releasing you to the other position. I left SO as a Band 2, in less than a year I was a 3, in 3 more years I was a 4. Look outside your comfort zone.

Unless you are an India or male, there is apparently no advancement. Just stating facts. I've been with Cigna for 10+ years and have watched men be promoted for the entire time. Do your own research on the global directory - look at the band 5's. The ratio of men to women is 2:1, and even less as you go up the bands 6, 7, 8.

I have left Cigna 2 times as a Band 4 employee, and I have been hired/rehired each time as a Band 3 and worked my way back up. However, I have never been given a look for a mgt position despite performing very well in my roles. Once, I didn’t even get an interview for a mgt position even though the job requirements were exactly what I had been doing for years.

Sometimes you just have to accept your fate and be happy.

I've been in my role at Cigna for nearly 5 years with no advancement. I'm paid less than average and the senior devs have been asking me for tips and advice since the beginning. Better get comfy at your rank.
