Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

What’s the latest on upcoming layoffs?

I’m among the RTO mandated. Layoffs can’t come soon enough, as far as I’m concerned. I’m unwilling to leave for free, and RTO is an arrangement I can’t wait to get out of.

The company's strategy is to drive as many people out on their own to save money on layoff severance packages. This is why vacation was changed to PTO so they only pay out accrued PTO instead of the full year's vacation plus the two weeks carried over.

What is going to be hilarious is when they realize employees are more productive working hybrid schedules and they have to replace who they laid off plus the extra headcount to offset lost productivity.

COP is cutting off its nose to spite its face.

OP: Unwilling to leave for free? LOL, you might not have a chance to do that. You can rest assured that part of the upcoming cost reductions will be focused on minimizing , or even completely eliminating, the severance package for laid off employees. Although I will hate to see that actually happen, there are no sacred cows when it comes to attempting to improve the company’s bottom line by cutting costs. This is what happens when executive management make inflated promises to Wall Street which we cannot honor. It’s sad but true.
