Thread regarding VMware layoffs

There is a good chance you or others in your team are about to be let go...

There is a good chance you are about to be let go If you are being asked to train someone else on what you do under the pretense of awareness or cross-training. There is a good chance that if you are the one cross-training a coworker is being let go and your workload is about to double. There is a good chance your entire team is going to be let go if someone outside your team is being brought in to document what you do and how you do it. Trust your gut.

The big tech had a mini crash yesterday, led by the big cloud/AI kahuna Microsoft. The dotcom bubble burst started with the big kahuna Microsoft in 2000. Azure grew only by 30% and AWS by 20%. The market didn't like it. VMware only shrunk by 50% in footprint but the revenues stayed same.

I am not sure if the mods in Bangalore know that they are violating the free speech laws in the US.

May be third time the charm. This post will stay.

They can't cut VMware anymore.

I can think of at least 20 useless manager class folks that should be fired with prejudice.

Hock, put on your big boy pants already.

You'll need at least 4 and 5 times that amount for even a basic retirement.

Agree. Thanks to Hock, I have that much now.

A common rule of thumb is the 4% rule, which suggests withdrawing 4% of your savings in the first year of retirement and adjusting for inflation each year thereafter. According to this rule, $5 million could potentially last around 30 years. Even if I retire at 60, I would run out at 90. I need to save another 2 million to retire. I would say 8 million will be good to have a buffer for the funeral and burial spot overlooking the Monterey Bay.

AMD down big because of lower guidance. Hardware is falling off a cliff. ASML was a disaster. The coming quarterly results will be after the elections so Broadcom will probably throw the kitchen sink at the market and do a hail mary and cut the hardware guidance and the hardware teams hard. Symantec and CA pitched in with extra revenues to compensate for VMware lower revenues. Probably revenues pulled forward. They are ripe for some harvesting too.

They can't cut VMware anymore. VMware is done and started hiring. I heard that the big one for Broadcom hardware is coming. Meta is cutting capital spending on mainly AI.

They'll keep cutting VMware. Don't be silly!

They will cut Broadcom hardware hard and CA and Symantec. Can't pay back the debts of VMware and they can't cut VMware anymore for now.

All H1Bs that are not core engineers are going to be laid off in January. All core engineers with H1Bs will not be renewed and get attrition.

Oklahoma bank fails amid claims of 'false and deceptive bank records'

In the case of Silicon Valley Bank and First Republic Bank that failed in the Silicon Valley and all the Chinese VC funds were made whole by FDIC. In the case of the Oklahoma Bank the customers will only get insured funds. All uninsured funds will be gone. Looks like the FDIC is not going to compensate for the uninsured funds going forward. It appears FDIC is preparing for a larger banking disaster.

Actually nothing is happening. Everyone is in a zombie state waiting for the demise of the company. I don't have a manger. I don't know what to do. No one is talking to me. I keep getting my salary and RSUs. So, I am sure I am supposed to be here. I haven't checked if my badge is still working. Not sure how many people are in this state.
