News division was a driver and usa syfy golf oxygen were thrown in to round out the package of damaged goods.
Bravo and it's trashy programming actually make money while reruns of Law and order and golf do not. oxygen has been on life support that they put the channel on free over the air tv in nbc o&o markets.
So it was political and that's why the Golf channel, SyFy, USA Network and Oxygen was part of the ones to be spun off too?
The boys in Philly been planning this move for months but was just waiting on the outcome of the election.
They are horrified at what the fake news channel has become.
Who would've thought J0Y R and J0E S and M1KA could take a whole division down?
Comcast is scared to fire J0Y and SHARPT0N so this is the easy way out.

Google the decline of linear networks which is not a politically motivated change but instead a technologically driven one.
Good try tho.
Wow! That decision was fast!. I thought Comcast would be exploring options for months before spinning anything off.

So, what's the future for NBCUniversal? Comcast should sell or spin off Universal Films/Productions and the Universal parks together. They make money. Then sell NBC to private money - it's still a quality business, right? As for Peacock, why nurse along a middle of the pack also-ran permanently in 5th or 6th place - maybe let that merge with some other streaming service. At that point, Comcast could just deal with whatever income streams come from any retained ownership from those assets and/or return some money to shareholders.
I wonder if Andy Cohen would be willing to CEO any such spinoff. I'm assuming Bravo would go with the rest. Many folks say Andy Cohen has the Midas touch, so maybe he could find a way for SpinCo to survive on its own.
Maybe I'm being foolishly optimistic and selfish, but since News is kind of its own thing I think those channels will be kept for the time being. SyFy, USA, Oxygen, and E! are probably the first to go
