Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Avaya layoffs Nov 6 2024

If you received the dreaded HR OUTLOOK MEETING INVITe tonight, Decline it! Let's all decline it. Patrick Dennis Can fu-k off. I am a top performer and have worked my a-s off. I have proof of age discrimination and no matter how much they offer me, I will say NO. Do you know in Germany, there is something called the German workers council and it is virtually impossible to let someone go in Germany (without cause) without paying them a lot of $$$$$. Why doesn't the USA have something like this to protect employees that are doing a great job. I for one will not sign anything or accept any money. I will spill the beans on how inept a company Avaya has become. Internal processes are a mess and management absolutely does not know what the f--- they are doing

Well, what you will tell to those guys working in Eastern Europe? We are also afraid. Tons of years in Avaya since Kennedy. Slippery slope since than. I am there since that times. Not sure what you get in US guys as a severance pay. In western Europe guys don't need to be afraid. They will get their money. In EE - please, you are just fired and 3 months notice - that's it. Fu...ng reality. We are also professionals in EE.

Customer and partners need to take a stand against this corporate monster. It's the boots on the ground that care for the partners and customer, not the executive team. Avaya treats a 30 year veteran the same a 5 year employee when it comes to severance. Partners need to diversify and customers need to know that the executives keep getting richer while crapping on the very employee that keeps our customers coming back and our partners ordering product. Hiring more and more executives for millions of dollars while cutting people and causing overwork and exhaustion for the ones left.

Unfortunately, most of us saw this coming. As I am no longer at Avaya I can, now, honestly say that the CEO and most of his minions are absolutely cr-p at communicating what is going on unless, heaven forbid, it's all part of a grand scheme to sell all or parts of the company. One thing I will say is that the last CEO, Alan M, was a complete waste of space. All the group hug, cheerleader whilst never actually providing any real details.

That being said, there are a lot of fantastic people at Avaya. People who are knowledgeable, hard working and committed. There are, also, a lot of good managers. However, once you get above the first 2 levels of management then it all goes downhill.

The layoffs at Dropbox of 20% of their global workforce and expression of compassionate care for their employees, is yet another example of how force reductions should be handled. "Impacted employees at Dropbox are offered 16 weeks of pay, plus an extra week for each year of service. I believe this approach reflects a commitment to supporting team members through difficult transitions and should be the standard going forward.

This is in stark contrast to merciless layoffs executed by Avaya in the past two years and most recently on July 2024.

Dennis Patrick and the entire Avaya Board of Directors,

On behalf of the thousands of Avaya career employees, who kept the business afloat for many years. You should be ashamed for the callous involuntary separations you forced upon us and for breaking your promise to care for us as valued members of the team. You tarnished the good name of Avaya and the heritage that comes with it.

I stated previously, that "Avaya can do better." I now say, "Avaya must do better," before our legislators wake up and drastically overhaul, "employment at will."

Please reconsider your actions and provide us with a package, post termination, that recognizes our contributions and comes along with a fair severance package, post termination.

These messages are quite the contrast to the vision Alan pained two years ago. What a lying POS! I feel your pain as this was me quite a while back. Your better off taking the money and moving on, you don’t realize what’s out there because you’ll been stuck in a he-l hole for so long. It gets better! Let karma take care of these a--holes.

What good does it do for you decline it? It's not going to stop the Lay-off. You might as well see what your package is and then decide next steps

I got my invite. I agree with everything said here about PD, the Board, AXP etc but take the money and run. This ship is sinking faster than the Titanic. Avaya will be carved up by summer next year and cease to exist. PD’s mandate is to extract as much as he can for the VC groups and the current portfolio of products are boat anchors and the new stuff is garbage, there’s a reason we’re not on any Gartner Magic Quadrants. There is no future.

Take the money and run!!!!
