“Senior leadership” is hiring more and more MDs and they’re not cheap. Travel, spend on dining, hotels, etc is more accessible at higher levels. Paired with the acquisitions Accenture makes and lack of value placed on it’s people, this leads to the layoffs that have been announced and will continue.

I'm currently up for a promotion, and the program manager mentioned that "it's more challenging to promote from within than to bring in external hires." This really took me by surprise especially since over the past two years a good promotion has been the only way to receive a salary increase...

Many people in my team received promotions during the June 2024 cycle, so I'm not entirely sure what's going on now. I was hopeful something would come my way by the end of November, but it's starting to feel ver y much unlikely.
