Do you predict that there will be Barnes and Noble layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

It’s true.If they hire you, they don’t think you’re very smart and are easily fooled. They’ll use you then phase you out. If you’re smart enough to see how they operate- you’re too smart to work there.( A store manager told me this after a few drinks !)
How long have you been with the company? You shouldn't be there for more than a year anyhow and that's only if it's your first job.
They don’t want good, dedicated booksellers ( that’s in the past !) They want what they perceive as temporary bodies.you were chosen because they see you as not bright enough to see what they do. So, if they hired you, they don’t think you’re very smart.
Once you get a raise, that's your warning that they'll be getting rid of you soon. B&N is all about making money not spending. The more you make, the more they need to get rid of you and they will find a way. Get out now.
Ask anyone who used to work there.
