It certainly took me a while, but I finally figured out what I don’t want in a career. A toxic work environment and 70+ hour weeks (at best) aren’t worth any promotion. Some things matter more than money and titles. I feel so much better accepting that, and I’m getting out as fast as I can.

I saw this coming within 2 minutes of the announcement we were being acquired, read up on BC's history, started looking that same day. Been gone over 2 years now. Why it took everyone else so long to see that is beyond me.
How does R@g00 and Bets. still have jobs ??
The chief architect is finally fired. The working class is gone. Anyone who had any motivation to work and the lowly junior people are all gone. Now we have the chattering class, arm chair architects who did nothing useful in the past 2 decades. Those who filed useless patents that are just feeding the IP rights wars scam. The high caste leaders who can read a script. This is getting more and more toxic. Toxic to the Nth degree. Then collapse.
Customers are running versions from 10 years ago. So, no worries there.
Toxic ba----ds just have no life. They live here all the time. They skip meds and their hormones go haywire and they are always unhinged. Save yourself. Ignore.
There are some pretty toxic people in VMware. You can see them active here. There are a few toxic people who do all the talking. Rest are just zombies waiting to retire. VMware USA will not exist in 2 years. Mostly will be run out of Bulgaria, India and China. See Omnissa.
unhock yourself!
You left months ago and you're still here. Why? Get a life.
Clearly for some it has become a tough place, and that’s actually OK, it’s not going to be for everyone.
I love the “don’t let the door hit you on your way out” and “OK great” posts here……you guys are clearly ecstatic about staying….so much so that you are checking out the layoff page! Doh!
Ditto, I'm now ready to exit Omnissa based on our last reorg. It's just hopeless to expect any meaningful change under KKR ownership. They seem to lack the will to disrupt our legacy VMW culture of apathy. There's no point in waiting any longer.
Don't let the door hit you on your way out
Welcome to the club! I left months ago, and while my new employer is far from perfect, I no longer worry about Hock Tan, or the everyone-for-themselves culture. Some people are fine resting-and-vesting, and if that’s your thing, I wish you the best. But for me and many others… life’s too short to hate where you work.
OK great.
