KIITV reports on 8/11/2009: One of the biggest employers in the Coastal Bend will soon be letting go of their workers. Beginning on 10/1/09 Gulf Marine Fabricators will layoff 128 workers. The company, which constructs offshore oil structures has yards in Aransas Pass and Ingleside. Earnings for the company's second quarter shows a net income of $4 million, compared with almost $12 million at the same-time last year. We're told the jobs could be saved if the company gets new contracts for work.
