I feel like I needed to start a new thread because I am starting to feel as if UTI management puppets are contaminating our posts and threads now. Is UTI that scared and intimidated by their own employees that instead of listening to us or trying to help the situation that they are actually just trying to stop our message or poison our threads with lies? That is so incredibly sad and pathetic. To Kim and your yes men, we all love this company and what we can do, we don't want UTI to fall but we need to fix it before we all just fade into oblivion. All we, OK maybe just I need is that you acknowledge our pain and struggles. Most of us are working very, very hard for this company but we keep getting screwed over when it comes to raises or benefits. Kim we are actual people who are and have been hurting financially for the last 5 or 6 years. Our families are suffering and yet you continue to reward yourself and your ineffective VP's who put us into this situation.

The mgt at Uti loves to refer to themselves as the leadership team. Those dumb sum b--ches are delusional as well as incompetent. Military students check schools and the BAH you can get at all schools Uti is in sh--ty areas so the pay is down but you guessed it UTI has once again made out. Going to any UTI school is worse than high school and your GI bill isn't good enough for mgt to get the useless panty waste students out of there. I have already talked to Camp Pendleton on how UTI really is and their predatory ways.
Dave Burch happened to Fisher and Meza, need I say anymore? Burch is the most corrupt E.M. at the Ranch, anyone care to disagree? Time for us all to go back to work today, lets see what this year brings, LOL.

In 2010 I attended UTI. as you know The price of enrollment is crazy. When I attended I was guaranteed that I would qualify for a federal student loan for up to half of tuition and I would have to come up with the other half in cash or A private student loan. I was able to come up with my half in cash. I made the payment! And in six months and I get a letter from federal aid telling me that I need to come in and meet with them. So I take time out of my day to go to the federal aid office there they tell me that I have been denied my federal loan to attend the school they gave me two options one was to pay cash and the other was to secure a private student loan. With the situation I was in I was unable to do neither so was forced to drop out. And I was out my $8000 that I paid out-of-pocket to attend! couple months later I get a bill for $10,000 from Universal technical Institute saying that I had to pay the remaining balance of my year of tuition! I immediately went to the school to find out what was going on there they told me that I was billed for the entire program and one cannot simply just drop out! But yet I could not attend because I did not pay I fought and fought and fought! Eventually meeting with the president at the Phoenix campus to where I was told there was nothing he can do for me! After months of fighting life moved on that $10,000 is sitting on my credit report I am waiting to be sued. I refuse to pay but yet it has ruined my Credit! There has to be something I can do! Please let me know if you know anything!
This school is a joke I went there expecting alot from it but I didn't, it's not like the commercials they show on TV...the labs are overcrowded we had like 3 to 5 people on each group and labs where not even that long and probably went 3 times a week if we got lucky. Every morning as soon we got to class they will give there Little Snap On speeches like for 30 minutes and, most of the time they just told us to read from the package book they gave us and the next day we had a test
things that we could have done at home from a Computer and not having to pay 30,000 dollars
And every time someone important like from BMW/NISSAN, ETC,ETC went to (UTI
They acted all professional and it wasn't like that...I even got a video of how unprofessional they Are

Tired of this Federal Loan plus I'm a married guy now!
When I began my employ, UTI was a "Great Place to Work". The employees were valued, and treated with respect. During those years, it was enjoyable to go to work. My fellow instructors' attitudes reflected their "feeling of worth" primarily via their exemplary teaching and completion rates. However, slowly, over a period of years, a cloud of apathy enveloped the demeanor of the instructors, the administration, and business office as well. Genuine comeradery among employees diminished substantially. The yearly increases of health care deductions, cessation of Phoenix 401K contributions, decreased EM involvement when requested for disorderly students, EM absolution of student Infractions are but a few reasons for employee apathy. My final Merit Review before departing on good terms after 15+ years was the "coup de gras". During the conference involving my EM and Training manager, I was informed, and I quote: "give them the answers, but don't teach the tests". I signed my review and included below my signature:(under duress). I personally related the incident to Sherrel Smith and Rhonda Turner when they visited my campus...Smith remarked that he would investigate the matter, however nothing transpired. In summation: my student evals always averaged in the 90's. Campus Administration always expected the instructors to be "team players" for the benefit of the students, however 2% merit reviews when the cost of living exceeds 5%+ yearly creates employee apathy, and over the course of my employment I viewed curriculum changes for a greater number of courses becoming easier. The "push them through" mentality is doing a tremendous disservice for student preparation entering the working world, additionally, "a satisfied employee is a productive employee".
Wow what a change since I was there. I loved the Phoenix campus, was a six time SOP and am now the operations manager for one of the Industry giants for wiring in the street rod industry. It was very personal when I went through the program in 1986 and have fond memories of the experience.
Im still stuck paying this loan off. Havent gotten a job since i graduated in 2009. Now that gas engines will be a thing of the past i feel i need a break with these dammit illegal loans that weregiven to me thru a xrooked representative from uti. I was young and dumb. Dam i regret attending uti.
What ever happened to the voice of U.T.I.? Did this person get fired or just quit all the post? everything must have gotten better at U.T.I. at least for all the ass kissers. Anyone know what happened to Fisher, now that could be a funny story in itself, he is the #1 ass kisser at the Ranch.
Things have gotten nothing but better since I left UTI. I miss my students are coworkers, but I don't miss the heartless corporate monster that UTI has become. I feel for those that are still stuck. I hope an opportunity opens that allows you to escape as well.
I was a student at UTI Phoenix from 2001-2002, after being Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps. I graduated with an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology, and a Certificate from the Ford Fact Program. I received 10 Student of the Phase awards, Directors Honor List 25k-30k of that a student loan, with no housing included, and for which I could have attended an Ivy League School for that kind of money, and 15k-20k in tools required to be a viable technician in the field. The reason so many people default on these loans is because the return on the education is simply not sufficient enough to cover the cost of living + pay for the absurd student loans that hand-cuff UTI graduates for the better part of a decade, if not more.
I for one strongly discourage anyone from attending this "school", and encourage anyone who is interested in becoming an automotive technician to attend a local JC that has an Automotive Technology program worth it's salt.
I believe this school to be organized crime. As all they are out for is $ and not to help students succeed. And I patiently wait until an effective class-action lawsuit can be filed on behalf of all UTI students to recover monies I believe to have been, for lack of a better term, stolen from its students for a half-assed education and a diploma that is good for toilet paper not much else.
Its too bad UTI has a lock on manufacturer specific automotive repair training. Automotive and motorcycle manufacturers should make their training available to public schools to undercut this nonsense, and the government should stop making federal student loans available to over priced for-profit schools. The students of UTI and MMI get stuck with a 30k to 40k or more debt, and if their lucky, a job after graduating that pays less than $20 per hour. Very frustrating for someone who wants to enter automotive repair field, and who does the proper research only to find this is the reality of attending UTI or MMI. After reading 100's of student complaints it appears the instructors and students have something in common, and that is knowing UTI is primarily in it for the money.
I seen my post about dangerous students allowed back into the classroom has been deleted. I guess to management that a student that has that much anger isn't that much of a threat. Or maybe somehow once that student completes his anger management course his life is changed forever. According to a person who shall be unnamed it's always the instructors fault when a kid is upset or unhappy cause you know, mental illness is caused by the UTI instructor not birth or genetics.
As the moniker describes that what the industry calls uti students. The management seems to not care about their ability to teach and is willing to take a paycheck from the industry govt and student. Even if the company went belly up all the chairmen will have their own respective companies to fall back on so why should they care about you or me? They already made their retirement plus some and have no accountability to us at the end of the food chain.
So let's get this straight. UTI hires me to do a job, which includes disciplining students when called for, then when an instructor "does his job", he gets
reprimanded and sent home? How much sense does that make? This happened to one of our co-workers here at the Rancho campus today(for those that haven't heard yet).
I am strenuously using this example to ALL my fellow co-workers, to BOYCOTT "enforcing the rules". Time for a "sick out" yet boys and girls?
We must stick together and support each other because obviously management will not support us.
Imagine how pathetic I felt when I found out the massive bonuses you all received. Over half a million just in bonuses for old (I don't work very hard) Cranston and old (Bruised knuckles) Smith. You told us that it was now illegal to receive bonuses based on student retention but then millions were given out to management for the same thing. My friends at the end of 2014 remember how your increase was 22 cents or maybe 29 cents???? Well I found out that Kim's yearly salary increased EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!!! And that was just her salary. How the hell are we told that us employees who have no say in running the company will have to tighten our belts while we weather these ECONOMIC HEADWINDS but you lying pieces of shit make ungodly amounts of money.
Hello friends and my upper management enemies. LOL. I have not had any time lately to do any posting on this site because I had a huge plumbing problem come up which wouldn't have been that bad but since my credit is nearly maxed out and since I am barely holding on to my house I have had to do some side work. Imagine that Kim, Ken and Sherrill, I am working doubles most of the time which means I already never see my family now because I have not had a raise to even cover cost of living these last 5 or 6 years I had to spend any free time I do get working just to take care of my family. We don't take vacations, drive older cars, never go out to eat or watch a movie but my wife and I are barely holding on. I have given UTI 8 years of hard work and dedication, I swallowed the lies about how NO ONE was getting any decent raises OR BONUSES. Hell I would even stick up for you guys when we talked in the break room.
I see another one bit the dust. I'm sorry my friends that people are being fired for the "good of the dollar". I guess until everyone is gone and no money is to be made then management will continue to shit on the employees.
As the Voice posted, the instructors wont fix the clip cars after class because there is no pat on the back, how about it is your flipping job, maybe they don't know how, only a few instructors fix the clip cars, I am one of them, the rest run and hide until the end of their shift. You guys that can fix a car know who the ones that cant are. UTI requires 5 years experience in the field to teach at their school, how is it that most of the 5 year guys are UTI grads? it's because they couldn't hack it in the field, now they are lying to the students telling them how great it is out there. What a bunch of bullshit huh! Get real, Marazzi, really, he couldn't fix a car either, he was so full of shit slinging his bullshit and turning around and doing the opposite. TTL,s put your instructors to the test and have them fix a car, you will see what I am talking about. Hot Rod, you guys get a break, cars have fuel injection now you would be lost.
You know that instructor who keeps saying instructors cant work on cars is the biggest obstacle in your guy's plan to move ahead with change. I'd like to think it was a plant from corporate, but it seems like he might actually be an instructor himself, which would be ironic. Unless it was marazzi, I could see that guy saying that...
Universal Technical Institute has been stealing from the students since they went public, UTI has been teaching antiquated curriculum for years, try to step it up and actually teach the student how to fix a car, not just how it works. I have a friend that owns a shop, he hired a UTI grad, it took this student 12 hours to do a simple 4 corner brake job. You guys need to start making sure they can do the job, not just on paper. I think the government or the FBI needs to investigate UTI policy's and procedures by planting an undercover student. Remember those who cant do teach.
This is what i have been saying, we need to organise! This is the only way to get whats fair for us the instructors who are the heart and sole of this company. I just want what is fair! The only way we can protect ourselfs from the greed of home office is a union. they have given us no choice but to pursue representation. Rmeber the element of surprise is the only way to make this work. we need to choose a different media to pursue this. I would sugest start at our campus and see how it works before trying to get other campuses involved. again facebook unionize theranch is a place where only friends can discuss this.

Today at lunch I was talking to my friend in employment and she once again assured me that she is forced to cook the books for our campus. She is told to take every opportunity possible to ensure that the paperwork shows that our graduates are being employed in the automotive field. She told me that she knows it is wrong but if she doesn't she will be let go and that she really needs this job. I am so close to finally contacting the feds and let them know what actually is happening at our campus in regards to graduate placement but I know that some good people will get in trouble.
Hey Friends, just got home from my morning/afternoon shift where I REFUSED TO CLOCK out for that bogus 20 minute third lunch Roger you said it yourself that lunches on the back end of your shift do not count toward lunch violations. That means I am going to receive a bunch of double time for working 15 hour days. It is about time!! I just don't understand why UTI (Kim) works us like dogs but refuses to properly compensate us with pay? I did the math and if Cranston (The guy who never works very hard and Smith the abuser) were to only receive 500,000 in bonuses every instructor at the ranch could receive a 3K bonus on top of their raise. Are you kidding me??? If Cranston and Smith ONLY FREAKING RECEIVED HALF A MILLION DOLLARS in bonuses we could get a 3 thousand dollar bonus??? How is this even possible?????? WE HAVE TO UNIONIZE AND GET OUR FAIR SHARE!!!
To the Camden Kid, what you don't realize is that 70 % of the instructors cant even fix a car, most of them are there for that reason. If you worked with some of these guys you would understand, the only reason they know what they know is that they teach the same thing every day. Call them out to fix an actual problem with a 2010 plus vehicle and they would fold under the pressure. Mr. kid, I work with these fools and they are the one teaching the students the sub par curriculum, if the student asks a tough question they cant even answer, this is because they don't know. Mr. kid, you should go see the inner workings of UTI then you can question me.

@Anonymous69083 your defeatist attitude isn't helpful to those who want to stay and make a difference. Believe me, from what I have observed,there is more life at UTI than many of its competitors. But it will take a core group of ethical, skilled workers to resist management and forge a successful vision for fellow workers, students, and the community.
What the Voice needs to realize is that the situation we are in as instructors is never going to change no matter how hard we fight. Universal Technical Institute is in it for the money, if you have a pulse and are able to get funded, you're in. When I first started I felt I could make a difference, soon after that I realized I was wrong, with every meeting I realized it was all about the money for them. If students can get instructors fired by telling lies about them then it is a student run company. How many of my fellow instructors that have been with the company for a while have seen this happen to good instructors? then the company keeps the instructors who know less than the students, you guys know who you are, this is why UTI is the way it is, pay less to read the sub par curriculum to the students. As for being under paid as instructors, go out into the field again and see how under paid you think you really are. Most of the instructors are so fat they couldn't fit into most cars, that's why they are doing what they do. Well good luck voice, you're going to need it.
Workers should consider sharing information about educating, agitating, and organizing. Even if you get a major union in (which may or may not be a good idea), you need to learn about "power analysis" and "workplace democracy." If you have students and communities behind you, that could be the big difference in your struggle. When they figure that you have some power, they will try all types of strategies to divide and conquer the workers. But, as individuals, don't take the bait. Gain power and negotiate, as a group, and in solidarity.

To "the voice" I would love to put a web site up on an open forum but again this would just give management the opurtunity to view what we are discussing. The key thing about unions is the element of surprise so no I will not post a web site HERE. But when I get the website from the union I will post it on the newly opened facebook page "unionize theranch"

Kim, tomorrow I am going to go to work, punch in, go to my class and just push them through the program so all my students are happy and give me great evaluations. My pass/fail numbers are good and I will get the maximum of the crappy raise you allow the education managers to give. Lets get this straight, I am a horrible instructor, my students don't learn anything but I teach the tests so they all pass, I tell them exactly what to write on their lab packs so they all pass, I don't mark them late or enforce any rules and I allow them to miss as much time as they want as long as they can get me signatures for the roll sheet and I GET THE BIGGEST RAISE POSSIBLE!!!! So I am rewarded for not working very hard-------Freaking awesome!!! And you wonder why the majority of your instructors don't do anything after class to help their courses, because if they do they get nothing in return!!!
You are correct sir. No instructor at the Ranch is going to say or do anything unless they are assured they will not be fired. Kim, how sad is your management that your own employees are scared to death that if they speak up or talk about unionizing you will terminate them in a heartbeat? Do you enjoy ruling by terror??? When you talk to your employees does it bother you that most of them despise you and just tell you what you want to hear so you don't terminate them? Kim, every instructor I talk to freaking hates you!!!!! All you do is lie to us while you suck up all our profits for yourself and your friends while we are dying.
To "Lets be smart" I apologize if you are not a UTI plant who is trying to tear the instructors apart but these instructors who continue to demand the preferred morning shift while the other instructors suffer are pieces of crap. How can a decent human being allow someone else to suffer knowing that they can help them? I just pray that the drivability instructors at the ranch don't get screwed over because Bow has become part of their team. I know that very soon I will be moved to night or afternoon OR afternoon, night schedule and it is fine as long as it is fair. Very soon I will say goodbye to my wife and kids for the entire week and it will suck but I will do it. To lets be smart, I read that you have contacted a union. If that is true can you please post a website where we can log onto, while still being anonymous to get information?
