Forgeard was really working hard not to lay people off. During the downturn in 2002 Boeing cut 30,000 people and we managed not to be hit really hard. So, I would say we are more people centric and we care about our people where American companies focus more on shareholders and management (just look at exec compensation) and care less about workers, that is why American companies have redundancies all the time but exec compensation keeps going up. This is just my humble view, I am with Airbus for about 11 years now and my group never had layoffs in 11 years.
