I've seen many students supporting Heald throughout this scandal. This honestly baffles me. Current students are being dropped from an education they have worked very hard to get through, graduated students are losing the life long job placement that they were promised and teachers that care very much for the success of their students are losing their jobs. And all of this is happening because Heald lied to all of us. Heald is trying to get students and others to believe that there are other people responsible for the closure by making the sale too difficult for potential buyers. But why should a buyer have to assume the multi-million dollar fine that HEALD earned. They falsified very important information that inevitably persuaded some students to choose much more pricey Heald over other colleges. And Heald should be held responsible for that fine since it was their actions. They should not be able to get off the hook by selling that debt to someone else. My heart goes out to the unsuspecting students, they are the real victims. But Heald broke many laws and deserves what they get.

Yeah..what agencies do they work for? Aerotek? This agency recruits Heald Milpitas grads and I heard they are pos! I did Google and Yelp search to confirm.
376 Who are these recruiters that you know? Can you back that up?
Yes, Lynette,
Heald let us down. Like my dad always says "First, you need honest people." Our leaders at CCI and Heald were not honest! When Stockton lost Cal grants a few years back, we pretended that students enrolled in Modesto. Except they lived in Stockton and had never set foot on Modesto's campus. Fraud! We were defrauding the cal grant system. Faculty questioned it over and over. Eeva told us it was fine but would never put that in writing when we asked. She never her scheme was fraud. Heald as a for-profit was dirty. This is the leadership's fault.
Looks like some students are still drinking the koolaid! Blaming Kamala Harris for stopping the sale is like blaming a prosecutor from stopping a serial rapist!
No, Heald, can't GET anyone a job, but Heald can PREPARE students for jobs. Once Heald abdicated its role as educator and instead aimed at making sure as many students as possible stayed in class and kept paying tuition, then the bar was lowered. Students weren't being asked to rise up to challenges, but instead, instructors lowered the bar to the least common denominator. Consequently, when students went on interviews, they weren't hired. I personally know recruiters who have said, "I can't place Heald alumni." They came in with poor work habits, showed up when they wanted to, and spent a lot of time talking on the phone. There was a time when a Heald degree meant something. That was a time when Heald taught not only classroom material, but also soft skills like teamwork and professional dress. Heald once even had a dress code. In the 1990s, women were required to wear skirts every day. In the 2000s, it was business casual with interview dress on Wednesday. By the time it was over, there were no rules, just keep everybody happy so they keep getting the checks.
The students, at least in Hawaii, are not supporting an institution of corruption and mismanagement, they're supporting the support network that they received by the faculty and staff on the campus level. Students called one another on Sunday and came to the school to wave signs to show their support... even after knowing that the doors were closed to them. They're supporting the atmosphere of motivation and hope that has always been a part of the campus. As an institution, CCI and its various branches did unsavory things and were finally caught. As a campus, each school had a unique environment. In Hawaii, that environment was a place of hope. It was a place where the kids from the 'wrong side of the tracks' could feel like they could move up and out of the destitution that surrounded them. For all of the people that talk smack and refuse to be accountable for themselves and their poor decisions, there are a dozen like the 30+ that were standing out on Kapiolani Ave. for 9 hours today to show their support and thank the faculty and staff as they packed up and left the building for the last time. For every person that whined about not getting a job, there are 10 that are employed in their field of study. Heald graduates from Hawaii work in places like Intel and the FAA. I assure you... most of those that whine about not having a job are probably the people that never answered their phones when Career Services called to try to send out their resume. They are the ones that went to the job interview dressed like they were going to the club or looking like they just rolled out of bed. The ones that put no effort of their own into getting employed are going to be the first to point fingers at someone else not 'getting' them a job. Heald cannot GET anyone a job. Heald tried to instill upon the students the tools and mentality they needed to gain stable careers. We all know, though, that a fair portion of the students were there for the stipend... and now that their stipend is gone and they need to start paying up, they're raising hell. All of the success stories...? You probably won't hear a peep from them, unfortunately. They've got lives and jobs and promotions thanks to their degree.
Heald College is no angel. They caused enough of their own illegal issues!!!
Yep, they are the real victims. Let's hope they can get at least some of their debts repaid and finish their education at honest schools. The time for shifting the blame is long past.
