Thread regarding Safeway Inc. layoffs

The former Vons distribution centers and Clackamas are on their way out

As predicted, the overlap of distribution centers in the West Coast causing closures is coming true, with the Safeway Clackamas, Santa Fe Springs, and El Monte distribution centers closing, with the method being that Albertsons sells them and then leases them back short term. No word on the overlap in the Phoenix area.

What a shame to see the destruction of what was a good company to work for. I have seen the old Safeway Manufacturing plants in the Bay Area close over the years including coffee, spice, preserve plant, soap plant and ice cream plant vanish. Then Ygnacio Valley Supply Chain, 4th Jackson, payRoll moved to Arizona and now the mother ship in Pleasanton. Byrd and others made millions and thousands of jobs loss. Unions in Bay Area was aimed for the past 30 years. This won't end. Boise here we come.

They have a sick distribution center set up to begin with. As a truck driver it always takes hours to get unloaded and it always seems like a cluster.
