I was hired by Wingspan in October 2013. They laid off around 100 people from my hiring group that next January/February and continued laying off people weekly before the final cuts this past June. Before there my whole dept at BAC was also laid off in August 2013.These companies are ruthless. Glad I was able to find stable employment before Wingspan's final layoffs this past June. This article really opens your eyes to see that companies like Wingspan are more concerned with getting payments from an EDC than operating a business. Wingspan also 'furloughed' employees instead of actually laying them off to keep information about the cuts from going too public and to prevent people from getting their maximum amount of unemployment payments. At least BAC had a decent severance package plan though most people are not typically given even a day's notice of their layoff. My advice: Work towards a career instead of just a job, get more education, look at starting your own business.
