I heard this rumor, Applied Materials will be having layoffs in Q1 or Q2 of 2016? How certain is this and if it is, what groups will be targeted. I know that there are many competitors who are cutting payroll right now and that predictions for 2016 are not all that good. But at the same time, you are always stunned when layoffs happen and when people lose jobs. Now, if the economic situation improves here in the states and if Asia picks up and starts growing at the right pace again, I think we might have a good 2016 without layoffs.

Layoffs began 3/16/16.
Yes it has started in the U.S. After 17 yrs I was laid off 11/15. All temps were let go at the facility. The personal who I am in contact with does sepperation benefit packages and she has been working over time as of lately. I cannot say she said this butt, the Montana facility known as SemiTool has only RFTE left is expecting to reduce it already meager work force by 50% the second week in January of 2016. When this happens I was "not told" that these paticular layoffs would not be elegible for the TMP unless relocation is understood as a requirement. I can get numbers on all U.S. Facilities if anyone is interested. As for the ones making comments in the above posts about "enjoy the lay offs" & "burn baby burn" I think you got what you deserve. With those sorry attitudes you will more than likely be weeded out at any future employment also.
Yes. Enjoy the misery and carnage. It is well deserved. Burn Burn Burn. LOL
You're dreaming. Get ready for unemployment.
Good luck and I hope no layoffs take place
