People news reporters love to be making news and blowing things out of proportion! Scotiabank will give every opportunity to find you a replacement job when a position is redundant! They are actually hiring advisors and training as we speak! If an employee is unwilling to work at different location or job that's up to them! With technology and people banking differently it's no different than any other company !

Scotiabank you are wrong.
When we were told about the layoffs to come we were not offered jobs we were told we would have to do a search and look for ourselves. We would apply to the job which was definitely in our area of expertise.
We were not notified that we did not get accepted they just rubbed it in our faces they would hire a person totally unqualified younger and yes less pay, bring them in and tell us to teach this person the system.
The only time Management was really nice to you was when their reviews were up.
It was the worse company I ever encountered. Upper management piece of advise ever hear
of this phrase "What goes around comes around"
It is not true, we were told to find our own jobs as well. The positions that they are creating is the job of 2 or 3 people combined. Like we are not under stress now. The clients see that the staff moral is down. This is like Russian roulette, when is it my turn......it's horrible.
What I don't understand is the selection process for layoffs ... there are a couple people I know that have stellar reviews - Superior annual reviews, Best of the Best awards, etc. yet they're still laid off while someone else within the department who is surely not doing as well is kept behind.
The selection criteria the bank is using to lay off people is very odd.
Sorry to tell you but no offer from bns for new job offers. Your employment was gone with notice.

Two VPs in CCT and IT&S were just let go - how are they going to find a job of comparable stature in this market. Wow.
It's a shame for the loyal workers who committed their lives to BNS to be kicked in the teeth. The managers claim they will find them other opportunities in the company, but with cutbacks in the branches, all that is left in the Atlantic region is the contact centre, which I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. I do foresee more layoffs in the future, even in the contact centres because they have 2 CCs set up in Mexico and Columbia which are currently getting more training and I'm sure has cheaper labour.
This is not true. We have been advised to find our own job. Regardless of years of experience or level. They would rather see us go to other FIs. I'm not talking service level.
What a joke. Not true at all
