They mostly dump the older talented folks from Pacesetter, Ventritex, etc., after they acquire their knowledge. If you're a butt buddy of one of the managers that doesn't get the axe, you're safe for awhile (Sylmar's Hamid and Vadim come to mind). The larger and more corporate SJM becomes the the less humane they become. Funny how a company that makes products to save and improve lives can be so heartless to their own faithful employees. It's no longer a fun place to work, especially when you realize that the longer and harder you work, the sooner you are gone. I have noticed that the large breasted ladies seem to last longer than most.

Your expression about the "company that makes products to save and improve lives can be so heartless to their own faithful employees" is true. But you have to recognize that SJM does the layoffs in the same way as many other companies do. And please keep in mind – some other companies are even more heartless than SJM. The layoff is just a result of the economical conditions inside and outside the company. And nothing you can do about this.
when was the last layoff at St jude medical?
