Thread regarding Enphase Energy Inc. layoffs

Repeated bad decsions

The layoffs at Enphase seem to be a direct result of Enphase leadership team arrogance. The completely missed a major competitor entering the market and relied on the superiority of their product. In addition, the California-centric marketing message of "green" really limited outreach. They would have been wiser to say it's Green AND can make you and your country energy independent. People buy to save money on electric bills, but first and foremost you have to attract them and Enphase dropped the ball there too.

Enphase appeared to have accelerated hiring about a year in advance of the layoff with a lot of people starting just months before they announced the layoffs. Most women seemed to have exited the company voluntarily in advance of that with rumblings of glass ceiling, pay inequity, and general feeling of not being able to fully contribute. The all male exec staff is another symptom of trouble at Enphase.

Although Enphase claims layoffs were respectful, I'm not sure no notice and a couple weeks pay would meet the definition of respectful by most people. In fact, as the stock plummeted and people questioned why the CEO would move forward with a very expensive annual party... the feeling of doom was in the air that even the simple decision to save that party money couldn't be made.

Enphase is still top heavy and without knowing who was laid off, it's hard to tell if they actually did the right thing. If the executive leadership team is still intact... the people responsible for the decisions that lead to Enphase's stock being in the dismal position it is in are still there... so the problem hasn't been fixed.

"The Buck Stops Here" is not exactly the motto of the men who make the decisions.

There would be more "stones" in the board room if it were filled by women because Enphase leadership perpetually plays the blame game... regulatory changes, ending subsidies, unfair this, unfair that, this political party this, this political party that. It's probably the most uninspiring and uninspired "leaders" ever.

Man up boys. You got yourselves, your investors and your employees into this mess.

Step aside and let someone in who has the vision to fix it.
