Thread regarding Repsol YPF S.A. layoffs

They should send the Spaniards back to save jobs from the Americans. I see discrimination lawsuits written all over this layoffs.

Heard through upper management that the people laid off are mostly Americans with high salary. So that means all the H1B and L1 visa folks get to stay at the expense of American highly skilled labor. This is unfair practice which is nothing new at Repsol, there is nothing fair in the business they do. I know a lot of smart folks who have worked for majors didn't last very long in this incompetent company.

Respol is not a spanish company they are trying to be an international company but because of their practices and culture they cant escape being labeled as a "spanish company".

I worked for repsol for 1 month and it was decided by the so called hr group that i wasn't a fit. No communication and their hr uppers are a joke. No training, play favorites, very hostile work environment.

I'm an american and have been with Repsol for almost 10yrs and have friend in both sides of the Atlantic. Houston is my home-office and I escaped the recent layoffs. I can attest that most Spaniard expats in the Houston office, even with all their added benefits, don't make half of what their american counterparts make. So, you are right, most of the laid off people were Americans who made a lot more money than any Spaniard.

I was one of the Americans laid off today. Horrible bonus, horrible retention and horrible severance...McDonald's would have done better. Management sucks, no communication with the department. Stay away from this company if you want to feel good about yourself.

Sorry to remind you that Repsol is a Spanish company, you can go work to Exxon if you don't like to work with Spaniards.

These kind of racist comments didn't happen with the $100/barrel

I work at Repsol and it is a joke of a company. Layoffs start in the morning and rumor has it the bonuses are going to be given out on "case by case basis" !! This is how they play favorites..SEND THE SPANIARDS BACK TO SPAIN !!!

It does appear to be that way from my office. Just the opposite of what they said they were doing. Tomorrow will be a long day.
