Duke Energy has announced to employees in Supply Chain that on 1/4/16 voluntary packages will be sent to qualified employees. You have until 1/25/16 to volunteer. After management accepts the volunteers they will then send the involuntary packages. They have confirmed even if they get enough volunteers they will still send involuntary packages as all sites with employees of certain job titles must go! They have announced there will be more packages to come in 2017 as they are trying to reduce the amount of money being spent on labor in Supply Chain.

I work at one of the local power plants near Charlotte,Nc and we have had a voluntarily separation package for some employees with 30 years of service and 60 years of age. We have also heard that the station will have employees work for six month and lay them off for six month out of the year only running the plant with sixteen people.
This is true and very sad, the company has been struggling for a while now
