Thread regarding MassMutual layoffs

One day at the time

Not sure if I care about layoffs at this point in time – seriously, just drop it on me. Our compensation is below market, my compensation is below median salary even after ten years employment, not good.

MMWay is crushing our spirit, one day at the time. Our managers do very little to encourage or guide any career development but are always happy to have you cross-train with some other departments so you can take additional responsibility – your pay will stay the same…

Upper management super disconnected with the employees on the floor. Huddles held in the morning and problem solving meetings are often counter-productive and saturated with corporate talk, it’s beyond any point where things make sense…

If you do more than they ask you, nobody cares, nobody will thank you, you might as well kick back and do the bare minimum… They will keep telling you how great you are, but when they go to review salaries and bonuses nothing will happen – they will give you a minimum… Though year, blah, blah… Budget is tight but here are some suggestions to improve over the next year and that’s how it goes.

The economy is not good here, and I am thankful to have any job, but I do feel a sense of being valued at MassMutual.

A lot of people feel the same way and are looking elsewhere. The layoffs are not over by a long shot. If you can find something comparable with another company, take it. Massmutual has always paid near the bottom of the market. The place is a joke and the leadership is exceptionally poor.

You should just quit if you are that disgruntled. We knew layoffs were coming, and everyone was free to choose. Company pays you for your work, that's it, if you do not like it - LEAVE
