Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Deutsche Bank IT employee to HPE employee (Nucleus)

Just a couple months have passed since I moved over to HPE from Deutsche Bank AG.

They talked about a global transition - Nucleus project, a 10 year deal where the bank contracted all / (most?) of the IT departments to HPE, say, Wintel, UNIX / Linux, Virtual Hosting Service (VMware), DB, Storage, DC Network, IT Facilities (Data centers). Also assets (e.g. servers) was transferred from the bank to HPE.

In turn, most of us were told to say goodbye to the bank and get employed at HPE but remain on our same job roles and responsibilities at the bank, (well if we weren't intending to be jobless in the near future).

Kinda a huge change for working for HPE instead of the bank. Previously I was employed by the bank directly, and now I'm employed under HPE and the bank is my client.

Wondering if I should look for greener pastures?

Run for the hills. I guarantee they have no intention of keeping you longer than they have to. I was worried when HPE started laying off but I am much happier in my new job. I'm glad they moved my cheese!

I am finishing up soon having worked on this program. Made some good money and have no axe to grind with HPE/Deutsche. My advice, absolutely move on as soon as possible. Going to be bestshore (as they call offshore strangely!?) all the way. God bless Deutsche - they're going to need God's intercession. However, they knew all this when they signed up HPE I'm pretty sure. Saving a fortune no doubt and the infrastructure will continue to just about work, so why not? Everyone else is racing to the India/Phillipines bottom. Over a few decades, these countries will get some confidence and supply some management skills, I guess.

Well the prediction has started .... FTE employees in UK and US are being shown the door as their roles are sent to the offshore teams (now known as bestshore) groundhog day will be the norm for the ongoing support of the DB account.

I hear that that account will be going fully offshore (India) as soon as... So best look elsewhere unless you like working for a dying company that'll make your remaining years there fruitless and payrise-less.

Well if HPE follows their past outsourcing behaviour, eventually they'll be looking for a low cost support labor model (ie. off shore) and get rid of the expensive talent. Guess it depends on the deal though.
