They cut the old guys and the most experienced people on the teams, presumably to save the asses of the young and dumb. We're so screwed when this oil thing rebounds. Great job encana.

In Chief Facilities young and yesmam stayed.
Sure it's true. It's true of EnCana and many other larger egotistical companies. They don't care that the experience and knowledge are out the door. That way they don't have anyone to question them. Notice how EnCana never gets rid of the needless layers though - the yes sir and yes ma'am types. Then they wonder why they're in such trouble. It catches up to them eventually.
I was in the 2013 layoffs, the company favored young employees over the older. I worked there 7years. if employee was under 30 and asked to move to a different department they would be moved. Someone over 35, you are out of luck. They also let go of more experienced employees compared to younger. The few younger employees let go was to look good. So we wood not take legal action.
That's not even remotely true. They let plenty of young people go. The spread seemed pretty even. Also, plenty of older people have been putting their hand up for retirement or packages so obviously they're going to more inclined to lay people off that have asked rather than younger people that would have been less likely to request a package..
