It is going to be 12-18 months to transfer pads and pencil product lines Costa Rica and Mexico (thanks for outsourcing our jobs Medtronic). Going to try to keep current permanent employees by transferring them to other openings as they come up but it is expected there will be more than a few that lose their jobs. Probably me at this rate. I love that this John Jordan guy says our facility is an "R&D" campus and mature products are built elsewhere. How many decades have we built pads and pencils? 30+ years?

What's sad is the misinformation out there and rumor mill. Yes some of the Medtronic products are transitioning to other locations. Very normal in the manufacturing environment and very needed for large companies to manage their costs. Especially with less intricate products where it makes sense to move them to more efficient locations. What's not being said is the growth that we are experiencing at the Boulder location with the introduction of new, excellent, sophisticated products and the need to increase headcount to manage those products.
no Domino effect going on here!!
One of the reps just forwarded a link to this board, kind of like cp where they are talking about our plant. Get as much word out there on the internet about Medtronic. So sad.
Agree. Medtronic framing it as product lines that were introduced by R&D and "matured". These pads and pencils have been manufactured in largely their current form since 1983/1984. Estimate 350 direct employees affected. Expect domino effect with support operations and other lines to follow.
