Thread regarding Scotiabank layoffs

Not looking good and not feeling good

I had a training session yesterday (which had been planned months ago), which included staff from several departments. The news were dark everywhere. Seems like all departments were on edge and employees were expecting the worst.

I know in my department, moral is low as we are expecting some layoff announcement shortly. Employees are taking stress leaves while others are scared to do so as they may be targeted for the cut backs.

No happy days at Scotiabank. Time to leave the bank both as an employee and customer . :(

I worked at BNS. Used to be a great place but ever since Brian Porter came around its been a sh-- show! The training sucks, employees aren't given the training they need. No ones there to help. It sucks for employees that actually work. They should get rid of the ones that are just there to kill time. They put in the call centres which are sh-- cuz staff isn't trained and they don't wanna hear about the CC problems. Scotiabank is always last to spend money on anything. Their cheap towards their employees! It just sucks! I'm glad I left when I did! HR isn't confidential either. They let go of someone in HR who was busting her assoff and was a long time employee but they don't care. Their all about profits! The financial advisers lie and open free savings accts without customers knowing so they can make their targets as Scotias targets are high but what they don't realize is that their products are average. Don't ever apply there!

Now look, I, I mean we, we are very comfortable that this had to be done. I can make the tough calls. When I swung through GW and had that trader canned on my watch did I care that we'd eventually hand him $55 mil to settle? Hell no.

These (layoffs ) are policies to appease the BOD. There is no sensitivity in the approach. One employee who was laid off was given a a 4 sentence form letter by HR announcing her layoffs. The BOD are ones who are only interested in the bottom line, a truly NA philosophy unlike the Japanese who have the human element in their policies. The BNS policy atht we look after employees is PHONEY ,No wonder Japanese companies are successful while NA companies are not. No wonder the banks do not allow Unions I hope and wish that the people who make these decisions one day go through what the employee are going through

FED UP
