Around the middle of April 2016 Zayo laid off upwards of 300 employees nation wide mostly from operations and with no internal warning (as you'd expect). The odd thing is a lot of these did not seem to make since outside of straight budget/head count culling.

Another round of what really amounts to back door layoffs. Tons of great employees who are dedicated and hard working, they just happen to do it from home, were told to move to an office location or you no longer have a job. Some actually worked from an office, but one that's getting closed. No relocation help, no real warning, nothing. Zayo is truly running all of their experienced foot soldiers off leaving the few the remain burdened by the complete lack of experience or skill of the "replacements." Current C Level are mostly transfers in from Level 3 and almost seem hell bent on ruining morale for the sake of their own ideas. I though we were supposed to be the anti level 3, corporate, etc.
Had another round of layoffs recently. Not sure how many got it, but it seems like a lot from a newly acquired company got it and then some prior Zayo are getting replaced by the newly acquired. No warning and again with terrible severance amounting to about 2-4 weeks pay. No PTO payout and all unvested retirement (RSU and 401K as the match comes annually) left on the table. Really sad.
Well the Borg just assimilated my telecom company. Hope for the best.
May the Farce be with you!
what was the severance package (weeks per year)? My company was just bought out by Zayo and we're all expecting layoffs but most of us don't want to jump ship because were hopping for the best.
One of the VPs said that everyone laid off got a heads up and a sizable severance package. Neither of these were true and the way they went about it was bordering on personal. Luckily I found a new job 2 weeks later but they took back any benefit they could and nobody was made aware prior....very poorly done
I had no warning and the compensation package was a complete joke
Had an all hands call and still no one addressed the layoffs. So impersonal.
I'm shocked as I heard nothing of this. If we are truly a transparent company why would this not be known to the employees?
