Thread regarding Freescale Semiconductor Ltd. layoffs

Baffled

Everyone where I work at is worried about losing their job, some are worried about working for a company they know cares more about the stock holder then about their employees. Morale is the lowest I've seen , the enthusiasm we all once had for this "merger" is gone. NXP is about to let go of a lot of good and once loyal employees and keeping a bunch of unhappy and disillusioned ones who will leave this company as soon as they can find a new job. Most of my fellow employees just do not understand how NXP will be successful if they keep treating us as they are doing. This greed just baffles me.

I'm hearing that they are hiring thieves from other companies in certain departments. May want to look into that Mr. Rick. Hold on to your wallet!

Freescale basically stole my software technology a few years ago, then sued me when I tried to restart in the same business, knowing I couldn't complete with their VC funded lawyers. Now 4 years later that old software is failing because they didn't know anything about it or how to improve it or update it, and all the people who stayed on are looking for work. That's Karma. Now I write software for one of Freescale's biggest competitors (Renesas) and we are doing amazing!!!

okay but that isn't really "karma," it is just restructuring. Hey, my job is being restructured; I have to train someone that applied for the cell lead position and I will have to train that person to take over 1/2 of my job...I understand, but reallly...we're not yet (at mos13) at the point that people are being walked unexpectedly (they are being asked to go sometimes but really like the guy said you only need 1 HR department, 1 mgmt team, etc...we just got bought out!!!)...I want to leave and am taking the package, but the way business is looking, wow I think that place is really going to pop! I would stay if what you want is to stay in that field, you're probably going to have a great chance at it! I don't want to, but I want things other than what is being asked of me...kinda different...

Karma is right. What goes around comes around. I don't see a future in the US for either managers or staff in anything that's not pure R&D in the next 5 years... and even that may be a revolving door you don't want to be involved with. We should all be planning to jump to another semi company.

Why karma? What did we do to you? NXP karma? Freescale karma? I don't think you know what you're talking about. So far almost all layoffs are because we choose to leave. No one has forced us out.

You call it greed. I call it Karma. You get what you have coming to you eventually.
