Thread regarding Freescale Semiconductor Ltd. layoffs

Age Discrimination

The next round of layoffs will occur this Friday, May 20th. The last round of layoffs which occurred in late March resulted in 15 employees being let go, of which 14 of these employees were over the age of 40. Clearly age discrimination at play here; however if one agreed to the severance package, the contract states that one cannot pursue any legal actions based on age discrimination.

Sadly, age discrimination only applies if they hire someone younger than you or move someone younger than you into that position. I think it's like a 6 month window. Been there. The magic numbers are 35 to 50.

You are correct sir. The details of the severance package are spelled out in the SUMMIT website. If you accept the severance you can't come back and sue, as if that would do any good anyway. As for me - I'm outta here!

They are targeting the employees that have been there since the Motorola days
