'Twas the day before RIFmas, when all through the site

employees were praying with all of their might

To be finally relieved of their Seagate cares,

with hopes of a package that soon would be theirs.

Oldtimers were huddled all grim in their cubes,

listening with mirth to the interns and noobs,

Who fretted and worried about their iMAP,

Still unaware the whole system was crap.

Then from the cafe there arose such a clatter,

I quit my web surfing to see what was the matter.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

but a coworker waving a plastic bag clear

With a bright red plaid blanket nestled within

I knew in a moment they were at it again

Foisting on us another lame gift

To mollify those that wouldn't get RIFed.

Pie Eating Freak, top 2 or 3 post easy with the Red RIF Blanket, that was as Johnny Carson said "Good Stuff". BTW my spouse works in the medical field and maybe it's just a coincidence, but sadly the blanket is the same material and pattern as real body bags sans the zipper. Having my kids help me cut out the eye-holes out right now. I think I will go for a Lawrence of Arabia look just have to borrow that curtain sash. Best of luck one and all.

NORMANDALE - Mayhem was the order of the day due to the surprise offering of free red plaid body bags for tomorrows RIF activities. Ostensibly meant as Blankets for Pik-A-Niks, these fashionable coverings will be best utilized draped over one;s person whilst being escorted from the building on Wednesday. Employees may take them home in order to cut out eye-holes tonight. Also it was suggested to bring in a 3 -5" Bungy Cord to keep the blanked firmly affixed to the head by wrapping the cord around the neck and affixing the hooks together. Vast hordes of previously unseen workers descended on the cafeteria like rednecks at Walmart on Black Friday, Everyone wanted their Red RIF Poncho. Many tears of joy shed, etc.

Nothing. They fire you for not doing your job, the company's downfall can be easily explained away by the sub-par 3 work you have all been doing. For shame, for shame.

What does NOMAD have to do with Luczo and layoffs? We should hire Mel Brooks to compose a ditty that makes light of layoffs, people's ability to pay their mortgage, send their kids to college, give people a purpose, etc.

STERILIZE! NOMAD MUST STERILIZE! Computed.

The fun begins tomorrow (Wed). The fun is always on a Wed. Why? Cause Wed is hump day. A hump is good in the middle of the week. Speed bump, speed hump they call them in Ireland. Non-sequitir, NOMAD, does not compute. "Damn it Jim! I'm a doctor, not a bricklayer!"

Got so much work to finish and several managers need the status updates. For Seagate's sake, get some of these managers off my back. Can't wait to work under mosley's leadership. Go Seagate!

Hot Air Balloon rides for everyone after the RIF.

Followed by dry burgers, bag of chips, and ice cream sandwhiches.

Watch none of the upper management getting RIFed on Wednesday. I mean, none of this is their fault right? Luczo hiring Jamie and all his VPs and firing them in less than a year. That experiment surely didn't cost a dime to the company and now our flash business is thriving. Or the brilliant hiring of Jim Morris. What a visionary leader, tracking tiny volumes on a weekly basis like an intern accountant. It is only a matter of time now, those tens of drives he is targeting will bring us back up to 27% gross margin. How did WD let us hire their top talent is beyond me.

I never thought I'd miss friggin' Rocky...

I am going to find a way to plug promote the concept that universities in India or Pakistan model their business programs on the top ones here in the US. Then I am going to do all I can to assist, for free, with the development of business decision software systems. Lastly, I am going to do all I can to promote the idea, maybe even start an outsourcing firm for senior leadership. There is no reason why director and VP and chief whatever jobs can't be outsourced too. Don't know if I am able but I would love to set up a program to get the top talent in India 150+ IQ with business ambitions (there should be plenty - and there are no doubt less docile foreign folks as was hinted in another post). Whenever the opportunity presents itself, I will try to convince any person working hard to get MS and PHD in Eng to switch to business as well. In the end, I can envision the wide-spread firings of execs around the US. I am sure that companies would perform better with these other folks while getting paid about half of the salary rate of American executives. Can't wait.

So they will get fired before performance reviews.

That is terrible.

I mean, to add insult to injury.

They could at least wait until they are given their "3" first.

Losing your job is not nearly as a big a bummer as missing out on opening your Performance Review like a six year old on Xmas morning, anticipating, breathlessly, oh, could it be, oh I dare not hope, could it? could it be? Oh yes! oh god yes! A 3! A 3! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I would say most of us have out grown Seagate anyway. When you care more about the quality and the equipment than the company does its time to go. Most of realize this is a blessing in disguise.

The bean counters are in charge going forward and innovation is not cheap. Seagate obviously cannot afford it anymore.

Once again another terrible decision by the executive management.

How in the world do they justify this?

As I said before I just stare at my screen and wait for the payout, I do about as much work as Luczo at this point...he's only been in a few times since I started, 4 years ago.
