Thread regarding Fluor Corp. layoffs

Things are looking bad in Houston.

No new work and projects we have are being sent overseas. Big effort to cut old folks and replace with young cheap labor. They do not even hide it. Goes to the top of the office. First wave in motion right now. Waxali put in place on mpg by Stinks to make it happen. Order givin to cut expensive employees. It is happening right now.

If Manila is stand alone, can you guys generate and bid O& G projects now that the price is going down? Newsflash - there will be no more greenfield projects to be outsourced in Manila or India. Capital projects where clients are the government will not allow outsourcing which is Fluor's style. Domestic workers like Americans and Canadians will have the jobs. So how are guys going to get projects to work on- go and bid since it will take years and years before clients can build facilities again!

I wish everyone would quit talking about the quality of work from Manila. We are a stand alone office. We are more capable than North America. More innovative, more knowledgeable. I am being paid good money to throw North America under the bus so STFU.

Houston misc projects group having to walk there talk back words. No ever thought forcing higher labor grades off jobs is age bias.? You might be able to do it but you cannot be stupid enough to say it out loud first.

Aug 26 Fluor is sending all Nexus Project Houston engineering jobs to Manila. Jobs came to Houston in first place because Manila screwed it up so bad. How that we have fixed most of there problems they don't need us any more. Thanks for job well done

Don't matter. It's what they want. Spinks and Strange are the guys trying to look like leadership making it happen. Picone was too passive so he was replaced with wanna be Waxali. Eric is disposable. He's the flavor of the day. Britain is really calling it, Spinks is trying to deliver, strange is alternating between s---ing off West and Spinks to remain relavent. look for Eric on the side of the road in a few years.

Is this true? Do I need to look for another job since my labor grade is 22? Has anyone talked to HR about this? Is this legal?

Good luck to the young folks inheriting this mess. LG 21 and above are dead men walking. Hou has been beat down, told we are too old, not innovative, told our experience can be replaced by kids in Manila, belittled and talked down to repeatedly by our own leaders. Good luck on the next wave of work with the kids. Took 100 years to build, will not take much more of this to spoil the good name.
