I will say, out of all the gin-joints I've worked and all the hideous software packages I have dealt, MetLife's is one of the absolute worse! The word on the streets is that MetLife's "claim" to fame is seriously incompetent upper management, reacting like a feather in the wind. No real vision, extraordinarily poor planning, severe micro-management environment and the employee's moral worse than custard's men before the slaughter.
I know corporate America has lost, (if you assume they ever had), their moral barometer long, long ago. I know WE are all in it for the pay day, but when lying your pocket with gold comes at the cost of our families hunger, our families health, our families social time and when you see your coworkers more often than your own children, not to mention fed bullshit daily about going above and beyond for a scrap of any BONUS that is already preordained within the department's associates, what real inspiration do they expect? I can go on but truthfully I'm not even that angry. I have been on both sides of the layoff spectrum and I will say there are most certainly positives and negatives to both scenarios. There is also ladder climbers and a---kissers abound. There are pets and slugs everywhere in every level of the company.
We will all be judged, one way or another. My conscious is clear. I have nothing to hide, but my identity because other than living off the grid, MetLife, CitiFinancial, etc., etc. SAME F---ING EXACT Sh--, different players.
The only advise I can give everyone is wallflower whenever you get the chance and step into the light for management to see that you are a "team-player," whenever you must. In the end, you will never think of these people again. You were born with family and friend's and with any stroke of luck, you will die with them.
