Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Oh No - Not to relive this tragedy again.

The movie "Deepwater Horizon" will be shown in theater on September 26, 2016.

Here is the link to the movie teaser:

I know this movie has nothing to do with the layoff. However, there is plenty of laid-off employee who has nothing to do, all day sit in front of the computer (like me) and will chip in to comment on the movie.

Have not seen the movie and my observations from working in the company is there is no sound foundation in knowledge thus how can anyone expect solid decisions as the request moves up. Upper management only cares about career upward mobility and does not take the time to "trust and verify". That is how BP ends up in such fundamental issues with big financial consequences. They do not care and many managers take for granted that if they were given a pass to get that role then they need to do nothing to retain in or get to the next level.

The movie was very good, stuck to the facts (mostly). Economics over safety!
