Thread regarding First Solar Inc. layoffs

Lay offs in 2016

50+ talented people are shown door by Mark Widmar and team.

Reason ?? Business is not growing.

International projects are dragging for years. Domestic market is shrinking due to too many players from Europe and Asia capturing market at price that can not be beat. The whole solar industry is set to be doomed and FSLR is no exception

Dismal results from Tetra making people nervous in Ohio. What direction to go from here.

Word is depressing from PBG. Initial testing not giving results to successfully scale to Series VI footprint.

Performance of Series 6 module not achieving what is necessary to be profitable.

Scaling from dot cell to full size not working. The axe is coming.

Production at Perrysburg in jeopardy. Scheduled capacity missed the target needed to be cost effective. No surprise there just another mistake made by corporate. Load up the Dumpsters.

Tetra will not be cost effective in Perrysburg, if at all. Just a matter of time for the ride to end.

those managing the product (module) and product (EPC) teams are not best suited for the job. they spend their efforts on managing their careers instead managing their responsibilities. this may work in the short term for them individually, but the lies and false initiatives catch up.... then the industry and world passes you by.... all the better managers and directors have either been cut off or isolated from the real responsibilities, thereby effectively neutralizing them. At that point the either leave on their own or get asked to leave.... this defines the First Solar management style and is the main reason for its inability to succeed. what a shame... there are many good individual's left in the wake of this failing company... good luck to those who are out and looking...

Not only panel business but EPC business is failing too. The leader of major technical project that fSLR saw as game changer has left company in advance. There is No talent left that can take over hence project is cancelled. Everyone who is talented is looking for door before they are shown door. US Offices outside Tempe will be shutdown. Future is ver bleak for fslr

3/4th staff reduction coming 1st quarter 2017. They just cannot compete anymore. Panel change and shift to automation will be the death knoll for 700-900 employees
