Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

No Major Staffing Changes?

Although it was made clear by the CEO that there would be cuts to headcount, management in some areas seems to be blowing off the message and taking the news very lightly and there have been several recent new hires? What gives?

I work in the Bloomfield office. They are losing the Verizon contract. It was announced there will be 200 layoffs.

MetLife does everything rather slowly. So, be patient. The layoffs will come. I myself am hoping they ask for volunteers (i.e. offer buyouts) here in the U.S.

Wondering if/when the Cary/Raleigh location will be impacted or if they will consider that location the new main IT campus and target other locations instead?

Yeah they laid off a bunch of people in the new side just to refill with the summer interns. Classy!

Did you miss the announcement of retirement packages in Japan to begin taking effect this month (4Q, 2016) which is when Kandarian said things would start?

MetLife is huge. It may take a while before it hits your area of the company but Kandarian wants to save $1 billion between now and the end of 2019. I believe things are in the works to make that happen.
