How were you notified?
Did your manager pull you in for a one-on-one and actually explain?
Or did you just get a generic email?
Were you part of MAP?
Did you get any kind of severance?

Sorry to hear that @1ggy - they should have let you talk to your peeps - it's cold to do it the way they do it.
Good luck and I hope you bounce back quickly.
My meeting was with two VPs from my group. No HR. They just read from the script. I had to turn in my laptop and badge immediately following the meeting. They said I can make arrangements to come in after hours to pick up any belongings, but I was to leave and not talk to anyone. So, while the package was fine, I was a bit sad I couldn't say goodbye to all the folks I had worked with these many years.
There is a thread on severance already - you can see it here @K5ZiRoc or here www.thelayoff.com/t/K5ZiRoc
It's well planned - @qhb described the process - they are not as mean as in some other companies where you have to do a walk of shame and leave immediately - at my last employer they would walk you out immediately and they would FedEx your belongings to you the next day.
The meeting is with a VP and HR will be there - it'll be short: thank you for your service but... it's a business decision, we will have to part ways, this is how it'll work, a) b) c) - take care, and thank you again. no emotions, no discussion, it's all business.
You will receive a blank calendar invite from your VP for in person meeting and you will be told. You will get about one day to turn in your laptop and badge.
