Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Any idea when this RIF will take place?

The WARN act requires 60 days notice, which puts it on dec. 20. But not sure if that's applicable here?

The Sept RIF was exactly 60 days after the July email went out informing us of it-

There was a pretty big RIF on November 1st, across HBT sites (the Home and Building Technology half of the former ACS). I was one of them. From what I can tell from the "age discrimination" paperwork that they sent me, it looks like 120 people in HBT were RIFd in three phases (Sept 1, Sept 29, and Nov 1).

Heard RIF will affect "In-Direct" charge employees only

You need to continue reading. For example at the Wikipedia page ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worker_Adjustment_and_Retraining_Notification_Act ), an exception given if

"If 50 to 499 workers lose their jobs and that number is less than 33 percent of the employer’s total, active workforce at a single employment site"

And the penalty if the WARN act is violated? The employer has to provide pay and benefits for 60 days, but credit is given for severance payments.

@rwr I did read the WARN act requirements before posting, or as you so nicely put it, "Before perpetuating the myth".

"The WARN Act is a federal statute that requires companies with more than 100 employees to give notice to affected employees at least 60 days before a plant closing or mass layoff."

Mass Layoff defined as "You were part of a mass layoff of more than 50 workers".

They complied with the 60 days on the last RIF. My only questions was/is- does anyone know if that applies for this one as well?

Thank you. We are all in this together here-

It's a rolling RIF so essentially just an extension of the one in Sep. Involuntary date will be Dec 6, self nom will be Dec 7.

I was told by HR that Nov. 30 is drop dead date. Last one, drop dead date was Sep. 30, but it was over Aug. 30, at least at one site.

If the WARN act applied, the notice that went out does not comply with WARN act requirements. I believe that Honeywell is spreading out the layoffs to avoid triggering the WARN act.

Before perpetuating the myth that the WARN act applies, do a little research and see what the WARN act really is.
