Bad news for you guys but it's just the start of the big pay offs over the next few months . I hope you all find employment soon.

As a former Hess employee, it is clear they are continuing to protect the establishment. I know many of the employees being laid off, as usual the ones who have the company’s best interest at hart and not willing to compromise their integrity for personal gain are the ones being let go.

As per contractors, yes, there is a target date of 12/31/2016 for those that I have personally worked with. 2 Contractors were let go today, along with 7 employees in my dept. So employees, as well as contractors are being severed this week, however, Hess is only divulging the # of employees severed in the exit packet, which is 238. I have no idea how many contractors will be affected.

Not quite 12%, but 11.3% are being severed - 238 of 2101. All employees severed today were given a print out by title and age of employees retained vs. employees severed, as a means to divulge that there was no discrimination by age taking place. Lay offs by title are as follows: 2 Admin Asst, 2 Exec Admin Asst, 42 Advisors, 3 Analysts, 3 Asst General Counsel, 1 Coordinator, 1 Deputy Compliance Officer, 13 Directors, 7 Engineers, 1 Food Service Worker, 4 Geoscientists, 3 Global Technical Advisors, 23 Managers, 1 Mechanic, 1 Operator, 1 Sr. VP, 37 Specialists, 32 Sr. Advisors, 5 Sr. Analysts, 1 Sr. Assistant, 3 Sr. Associates, 1 Sr. Counselor, 9 Sr. Engineers, 4 Sr. Geoscientists, 1 Sr. Land Negotiator, 7 Sr. Managers, 1 Sr. Naval Architect, 2 Sr. Specialists, 4 Sr. Technicians, 4 Superintendents, 6 Supervisors, 3 Team Leads, 7 Technicians, and 3 VPs. I was one of the 37 Specialists severed today, I was topped out salary-wise at Grade 3. By looking at the ages let go, the vast majority were mid 40's - 60's. Specialist and Advisor titles were hit hardest.

The Bakken as well as all other regions will have their rounds of layoffs as well. You have to remember we are a global company with many assets. If upper management hasn't labeled your asset a cash cow or potential cash cow then it's a matter of time before it hits.

Production, EH&S, Supply Chain, Land, Legal, Operations, MR&I will all undoubtedly take hits.

"I was one of the ones laid off today at Hess... they are cutting the highest paid per title across the board. A 12% reduction in workforce."

I'm sorry to hear about your layoff. It seems like the Bakken employees have yet to be affected, it seemed like a typical day in the office for us, although we did hear that some Houston personnel were let go. I do find it hard to believe that a 12% reduction is true.

There are quite a few low grade level employees like myself who are far from receiving a 6 figure salary so cutting the highest paid per title (when there are hundreds of titles/levels/grades) seems unrealistic. Why cut 4 employees making under $XX,XXX when you can cut their manager making more than all 4 employees combined?

I've heard that contractors are going to be basically done 12/31/16, can anyone else confirm?
