When I was at Raytheon, we had a pre laid off meeting for people that were about to be let go. The meeting presenter said younger people were just not interested in coming to such kind of meetings. That was the reason why every single people in the meeting was 50+.

The only way this discrimination will stop is by people banding together in a class action suit. BUT, in order to be successful, the group would need to be able to prove a pattern of discrimination. For that, you would need to have a present or former HR person or other insider who would have access to the employment records to show a long standing pattern of discrimination for the 50+ age group. IMHO
Welcome to large population of age discrimination victims of Raytheon. The core idea is that you can be replaced by a college new hire who will not get a pension, at a lower salary, and a lower cost for health coverage
