Would love to be packaged out. Can anyone who has been packaged out advise whether the payout is 2 or 3 weeks per years of service?

I am working for Manulife for 2 years and on September 29 is my last day plus others and we are let go by them. I'm going to be frustrated in finding a new job and trying to come back to Manulife. I love working here but I'm sad that I got laid off. It's all about the money.

To the poster below, you say that "people live in constant fear and sadness" yet you admit you haven't worked there in two years. Are you having trouble letting go? The company has moved on and you probably should too.

I am two years removed from Manu after being laid off. That company has been in a constant state of flux for 6 years now with layoffs, reorganizations and the infamous "OD 1, 2 and 3" - have seen excellent, committed and loyal people shown the door. And even more promotions to AVP/VP after that. It's not a happy place, to this day. People hear no news until the door hits them in the back. They outsourced all Linguistics last summer, this summer, its creative services. All the time, they are trying to get good press about the things they are doing around mental health. By the way, the 10K for employees for mental health services is desperately needed, but doesn't work the way it says it is supposed to. People live In constant fear and sadness. So much stress.

This just hit John Hancock down here in the states..... they crushed more than half of new business, and they are moving for more. Claiming loss of revenue, when the posted Q1 profits were sky high... people with 25+ years are being dropped and given a week to remain in their positions. terrible.

All creative services employees, company wide. They're sourcing out the work to a company called Opal (not sure of spelling). Opal will hire a few lucky Manulanders, which I'm sure they'll let go shortly there after. That way no one needs to pay the severance.

Take your mutual funds and put them into another company.

Do not know many people that would be upset if they were to be let go. That's how bad Manulife has become.
